  10. All their days their work is grief and pain; even at night their minds do not rest. This too is meaningless.
  11. A person can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in their own toil. This too, I see, is from the hand of God,
  12. I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live.
  13. I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him.
  14. So I saw that there is nothing better for a person than to enjoy their work, because that is their lot. For who can bring them to see what will happen after them?
  15. But better than both is the one who has never been born, who has not seen the evil that is done under the sun.
  16. There was a man all alone; he had neither son nor brother. There was no end to his toil, yet his eyes were not content with his wealth. “For whom am I toiling,” he asked, “and why am I depriving myself of enjoyment?” This too is meaningless— a miserable business!
  17. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?
  18. Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

  21. Fulfill Your Vow to God

    Guard your steps when you go to the house of God. Go near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools, who do not know that they do wrong.
  22. Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few.
  23. A dream comes when there are many cares, and many words mark the speech of a fool.
  24. When you make a vow to God, do not delay to fulfill it. He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill your vow.
  25. It is better not to make a vow than to make one and not fulfill it.
