Proverbs 21:27-22:5

²⁷^(A)The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination;
How much more when he brings it with wicked intent!

²⁸A false witness shall perish,
But the man who hears him will speak endlessly.

²⁹A wicked man hardens his face,
But as for the upright, he ^[a]establishes his way.

³⁰^(B)There is no wisdom or understanding
Or counsel against the Lord.

³¹The horse is prepared for the day of battle,
But ^(C)deliverance is of the Lord.

22 A ^(D)good name is to be chosen rather than great riches,
Loving favor rather than silver and gold.

²The ^(E)rich and the poor have this in common,
The ^(F)Lord is the maker of them all.

³A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself,
But the simple pass on and are ^(G)punished.

⁴By humility and the fear of the Lord
Are riches and honor and life.

⁵Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse;
He who guards his soul will be far from them.

how much more so when brought with evil intent!^(B)

²⁸A false witness^(C) will perish,^(D)
but a careful listener will testify successfully.

²⁹The wicked put up a bold front,
but the upright give thought to their ways.^(E)

³⁰There is no wisdom,^(F) no insight, no plan
that can succeed against the Lord.^(G)

³¹The horse is made ready for the day of battle,
but victory rests with the Lord.^(H)

22 A good name is more desirable than great riches;
to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.^(I)

²Rich and poor have this in common:
The Lord is the Maker of them all.^(J)

³The prudent see danger and take refuge,^(K)
but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.^(L)

⁴Humility is the fear of the Lord;
its wages are riches and honor^(M) and life.^(N)

⁵In the paths of the wicked are snares and pitfalls,^(O)
but those who would preserve their life stay far from them.
