God’s Promises to Zion
8 The word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying: 2 Thus says the Lord of hosts: I am jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I am jealous for her with great wrath. 3 Thus says the Lord: I will return to Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem; Jerusalem shall be called the faithful city, and the mountain of the Lord of hosts shall be called the holy mountain. 4 Thus says the Lord of hosts: Old men and old women shall again sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each with staff in hand because of their great age. 5 And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in its streets. 6 Thus says the Lord of hosts: Even though it seems impossible to the remnant of this people in these days, should it also seem impossible to me, says the Lord of hosts? 7 Thus says the Lord of hosts: I will save my people from the east country and from the west country; 8 and I will bring them to live in Jerusalem. They shall be my people and I will be their God, in faithfulness and in righteousness.
9 Thus says the Lord of hosts: Let your hands be strong—you that have recently been hearing these words from the mouths of the prophets who were present when the foundation was laid for the rebuilding of the temple, the house of the Lord of hosts. 10 For before those days there were no wages for people or for animals, nor was there any safety from the foe for those who went out or came in, and I set them all against one another. 11 But now I will not deal with the remnant of this people as in the former days, says the Lord of hosts. 12 For there shall be a sowing of peace; the vine shall yield its fruit, the ground shall give its produce, and the skies shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things. 13 Just as you have been a cursing among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you and you shall be a blessing. Do not be afraid, but let your hands be strong.
14 For thus says the Lord of hosts: Just as I purposed to bring disaster upon you, when your ancestors provoked me to wrath, and I did not relent, says the Lord of hosts, 15 so again I have purposed in these days to do good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah; do not be afraid. 16 These are the things that you shall do: Speak the truth to one another, render in your gates judgments that are true and make for peace, 17 do not devise evil in your hearts against one another, and love no false oath; for all these are things that I hate, says the Lord.

18 The word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying: 19 Thus says the Lord of hosts: The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be seasons of joy and gladness, and cheerful festivals for the house of Judah: therefore love truth and peace.
Many Peoples Drawn to Jerusalem
20 Thus says the Lord of hosts: Peoples shall yet come, the inhabitants of many cities; 21 the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, “Come, let us go to entreat the favor of the Lord, and to seek the Lord of hosts; I myself am going.” 22 Many peoples and strong nations shall come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem, and to entreat the favor of the Lord. 23 Thus says the Lord of hosts: In those days ten men from nations of every language shall take hold of a Jew, grasping his garment and saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.”

Der Herr verheißt Segen und Wiederherstellung für Jerusalem
8 Und das Wort des Herrn der Heerscharen erging also:
2 So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: Ich eifere für Zion mit großem Eifer, und mit großem Grimm eifere ich für sie.
3 So spricht der Herr: Ich bin wieder nach Zion zurückgekehrt, und ich will Wohnung nehmen in Jerusalem, und Jerusalem soll «die Stadt der Wahrheit» heißen und der Berg des Herrn der Heerscharen «der heilige Berg».
4 So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: Es sollen noch auf den Plätzen Jerusalems alte Männer und alte Frauen sitzen, ein jeder mit einem Stab in der Hand ob hohen Alters. 5 Und die Plätze der Stadt sollen voll Knaben und Mädchen werden, die auf ihren Plätzen spielen.
6 So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: Wenn das in den Augen des Überrestes dieses Volkes wunderbar sein wird in jenen Tagen, sollte es auch in meinen Augen wunderbar sein? spricht der Herr der Heerscharen.
7 So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: Siehe, ich rette mein Volk aus dem Lande des Aufgangs und aus dem Lande des Untergangs der Sonne; 8 und ich will sie hereinführen, daß sie mitten in Jerusalem wohnen sollen; und sie sollen mein Volk sein, und ich will ihr Gott sein in Wahrheit und Gerechtigkeit.
9 So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: Stärket eure Hände, ihr, die ihr in diesen Tagen diese Worte aus dem Munde der Propheten hört - am Tage, da das Haus des Herrn der Heerscharen gegründet ward -, daß der Tempel gebaut werde! 10 Denn vor diesem Tage lohnte sich die Arbeit der Menschen und des Viehes nicht; auch hatten die, welche aus- und eingingen, keine Ruhe vor dem Feind, und ich ließ alle Leute gegeneinander los. 11 Nun aber will ich mich zum Überrest dieses Volkes nicht mehr stellen wie in den vorigen Tagen, spricht der Herr der Heerscharen; 12 sondern es soll eine Saat des Friedens geben: der Weinstock soll seine Frucht bringen und das Land seinen Ertrag abwerfen und der Himmel seinen Tau spenden, und dem Überrest dieses Volkes will ich solches alles zum Erbteil geben. 13 Und es soll geschehen, wie ihr ein Fluch gewesen seid unter den Nationen, o Haus Juda und Haus Israel, so will ich euch erretten, daß ihr ein Segen werden sollt; fürchtet euch nur nicht, sondern stärket eure Hände!
14 Denn also spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: Gleichwie ich gedachte, Unheil über euch zu bringen, als eure Väter mich erzürnten, spricht der Herr der Heerscharen, und mich's nicht gereuen ließ, 15 so habe ich mir jetzt in diesen Tagen vorgenommen, Jerusalem und dem Hause Juda Gutes zu tun; fürchtet euch nicht! 16 Das ist es aber, was ihr tun sollt: Redet untereinander die Wahrheit,übet treulich Recht und schaffet Frieden in euren Toren; 17 und keiner denke etwas Arges in seinem Herzen wider seinen Bruder; liebet auch nicht falsche Eide! Denn solches alles hasse ich, spricht der Herr.
18 Und das Wort des Herrn der Heerscharen erging an mich also:
19 So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: Das Fasten im vierten und das Fasten im fünften und das Fasten im siebenten und das Fasten im zehnten Monat soll dem Hause Juda zur Freude und Wonne werden und zu angenehmen Festtagen. Liebet ihr nur die Wahrheit und den Frieden!
20 So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: Es werden noch Völker und die Bewohner vieler Städte kommen; 21 und die Bewohner einer Stadt werden zu denen einer andern kommen und sagen: «Lasset uns gehen, den Herrn anzuflehen und den Herrn der Heerscharen zu suchen! Auch ich will gehen!» 22 Also werden große Völker und mächtige Nationen kommen, den Herrn der Heerscharen zu Jerusalem zu suchen und den Herrn anzuflehen.
23 So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: In jenen Tagen wird's geschehen, daß zehn Männer aus allen Sprachen der Nationen einen Juden beim Rockzipfel festhalten und zu ihm sagen werden: «Wir wollen mit euch gehen, denn wir haben gehört, daß Gott mit euch ist!»
