¹¹ He said to me, “To the land of Shinar, to build a house for it, and when this is prepared, they will set it down there on its base.”^(A)

² And as they migrated from the east,^[a] they came upon a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there.^(A)

² The Lord gave King Jehoiakim of Judah into his power, as well as some of the vessels of the house of God. These he brought to the land of Shinar,^[a] and he placed the vessels in the treasury of his gods.^(A)

¹⁰ The beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Akkad, and Calneh in the land of Shinar.^(A)

¹¹ On that day the Lord will again raise^[a] his hand to recover the remnant that is left of his people, from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Cush, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the coastlands of the sea.^(A)

Lot’s Captivity and Rescue

14 In the days of King Amraphel of Shinar, King Arioch of Ellasar, King Chedorlaomer of Elam, and King Tidal of Goiim,^(A)

²⁸ For he has actually sent to us in Babylon, saying, “It will be a long time; build houses and live in them, and plant gardens and eat what they produce.”

²⁴ they will fall by the edge of the sword and be taken away as captives among all nations, and Jerusalem will be trampled on by the nations, until the times of the nations are fulfilled.^(A)

⁴ For the Israelites shall remain many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or pillar, without ephod or teraphim.^(A)

⁵⁹ then the Lord will overwhelm both you and your offspring with severe and lasting afflictions and grievous and lasting maladies.
