Żyć tak, by innych budować
15 My natomiast, mocni, powinniśmy wziąć na siebie ułomności słabych, zamiast dogadzać sobie samym. 2 Niech każdy z nas postępuje w sposób miły dla bliźniego, dla jego dobra i dla zbudowania. 3 Chrystus również nie dogadzał sobie, ale, jak napisano: Spadły na mnie zniewagi urągających Tobie. 4 Cokolwiek zaś wcześniej napisano, ma służyć naszemu pouczeniu, abyśmy dzięki wytrwałości i pociesze, których źródłem są Pisma, trwali przy nadziei.
5 A Bóg wytrwałości i pociechy niech darzy was jednomyślnością, na wzór Jezusa Chrystusa, 6 abyście tak połączeni, jednym głosem chwalili Boga i Ojca naszego Pana, Jezusa Chrystusa.
7 Dlatego przygarniajcie jedni drugich, podobnie jak Chrystus przygarnął was dla chwały Boga. 8 Twierdzę bowiem, że Chrystus stał się sługą obrzezanych ze względu na prawdę Bożą, aby potwierdzić dane ojcom obietnice, 9 a także, by poganie, dzięki miłosierdziu, oddali chwałę Bogu, zgodnie ze słowami:
Dlatego wyznam Cię pośród narodów
i zaśpiewam na cześć Twojego imienia.
10 I znowu czytamy:
Cieszcie się, narody, razem z Jego ludem.
11 I ponownie:
Chwalcie Pana, wszystkie narody,
I niech Go wysławiają wszystkie ludy!
12 Izajasz z kolei mówi:
Wypuści pędy korzeń Jessaja,
przyjdzie Ten, który będzie rządził narodami.
W Nim narody będą pokładać nadzieję.
13 A Bóg nadziei niech was napełni największą radością i pokojem w wierze, abyście opływali w nadzieję, w mocy Ducha Świętego.
Powody napisania listu
14 Co do mnie, drodzy bracia, nie wątpię w waszą dobroć ani w to, że dzięki swojemu poznaniu możecie jedni drugich pouczać. 15 Mimo to, dość odważnie tu i ówdzie do was napisałem, jako ten, który przypomina, ze względu na łaskę otrzymaną od Boga. 16 To za jej sprawą jestem względem narodów przedstawicielem Chrystusa Jezusa. Pełnię służbę kapłańską. Głoszę Bożą dobrą nowinę, po to, by poganie stali się przyjemną ofiarą, uświęconą przez Ducha Świętego. 17 Tak więc, co do spraw Bożych, mam się czym szczycić w Chrystusie Jezusie. 18 I choć nie odważę się mówić o czym innym, mogę powiedzieć o tym, czego Chrystus dokonał przeze mnie, by doprowadzić pogan do posłuszeństwa, słowem albo czynem, 19 w mocy znaków i cudów oraz w mocy Ducha Bożego. W ten właśnie sposób rozgłosiłem Chrystusową dobrą nowinę począwszy od Jerozolimy i jej okolic aż po Illirię.
20 Stawiałem sobie przy tym za punkt honoru głosić dobrą nowinę tam, gdzie jeszcze nie wspomniano imienia Chrystusa — aby nie budować na cudzym fundamencie. 21 Kierowałem się tymi słowami:
Zobaczą Go ludzie, którym o Nim nie głoszono,
i poznają ci, którzy o Nim nie słyszeli.
22 To dlatego wielokrotnie odwlekałem przyjście do was.
Apostoł o swoich zamiarach
23 Teraz jednak nie ma już dla mnie miejsca w tych stronach, a jednocześnie od lat pragnę was odwiedzić. 24 I mam nadzieję, że stanie się to niebawem, gdy będę w drodze do Hiszpanii. Chciałbym was odwiedzić i zaopatrzyć się u was na dalszą drogę. Ale najpierw, oczywiście, chciałbym się trochę nacieszyć wami.
25 Obecnie jestem w drodze do Jerozolimy. Idę ze wsparciem dla świętych, 26 przekazanym przez Macedonię i Achaję. Uznały one za właściwe złożyć się na potrzeby ubogich wśród świętych w Jerozolimie. 27 I słusznie, bo rzeczywiście są ich dłużnikami. 30 Proszę was, bracia, przez wzgląd na naszego Pana, Jezusa Chrystusa, oraz przez wzgląd na miłość Ducha, łączcie się ze mną w modlitwach i wstawiajcie się za mną u Boga. 31 Proście, aby w Judei nie spotkało mnie nic złego ze strony ludzi nieposłusznych wierze. Proście też, aby moja posługa na rzecz Jerozolimy została życzliwie przyjęta przez świętych, 32 tak bym — za wolą Bożą — przybył do was pełen radości i mógł się u was odświeżyć.
33 A Bóg pokoju niech będzie z wami wszystkimi. Amen.

15 We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak(A) and not to please ourselves. 2 Each of us should please our neighbors for their good,(B) to build them up.(C) 3 For even Christ did not please himself(D) but, as it is written: “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.”[a](E) 4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us,(F) so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.
5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind(G) toward each other that Christ Jesus had, 6 so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify(H) the God and Father(I) of our Lord Jesus Christ.
7 Accept one another,(J) then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. 8 For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews[b](K) on behalf of God’s truth, so that the promises(L) made to the patriarchs might be confirmed 9 and, moreover, that the Gentiles(M) might glorify God(N) for his mercy. As it is written:
10 Again, it says,
11 And again,
12 And again, Isaiah says,
“The Root of Jesse(R) will spring up,
one who will arise to rule over the nations;
in him the Gentiles will hope.”[f](S)
13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace(T) as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.(U)
Paul the Minister to the Gentiles
14 I myself am convinced, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness,(V) filled with knowledge(W) and competent to instruct one another. 15 Yet I have written you quite boldly on some points to remind you of them again, because of the grace God gave me(X) 16 to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles.(Y) He gave me the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God,(Z) so that the Gentiles might become an offering(AA) acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
17 Therefore I glory in Christ Jesus(AB) in my service to God.(AC) 18 I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles(AD) to obey God(AE) by what I have said and done— 19 by the power of signs and wonders,(AF) through the power of the Spirit of God.(AG) So from Jerusalem(AH) all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.(AI) 20 It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel(AJ) where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s foundation.(AK) 21 Rather, as it is written:
22 This is why I have often been hindered from coming to you.(AM)
Paul’s Plan to Visit Rome
23 But now that there is no more place for me to work in these regions, and since I have been longing for many years to visit you,(AN) 24 I plan to do so when I go to Spain.(AO) I hope to see you while passing through and to have you assist(AP) me on my journey there, after I have enjoyed your company for a while. 25 Now, however, I am on my way to Jerusalem(AQ) in the service(AR) of the Lord’s people(AS) there. 26 For Macedonia(AT) and Achaia(AU) were pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the Lord’s people in Jerusalem.(AV) 27 They were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in the Jews’ spiritual blessings, they owe it to the Jews to share with them their material blessings.(AW) 28 So after I have completed this task and have made sure that they have received this contribution, I will go to Spain(AX) and visit you on the way. 29 I know that when I come to you,(AY) I will come in the full measure of the blessing of Christ.
30 I urge you, brothers and sisters, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit,(AZ) to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me.(BA) 31 Pray that I may be kept safe(BB) from the unbelievers in Judea and that the contribution(BC) I take to Jerusalem may be favorably received by the Lord’s people(BD) there, 32 so that I may come to you(BE) with joy, by God’s will,(BF) and in your company be refreshed.(BG) 33 The God of peace(BH) be with you all. Amen.

The Example of Christ
15 (A)We who are strong (B)have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. 2 (C)Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. 3 For (D)Christ did not please himself, but as it is written, (E)“The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me.” 4 For (F)whatever was written in former days was written for our (G)instruction, that through endurance and through (H)the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. 5 May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you (I)to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, 6 that together you may with one voice glorify (J)the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 7 Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.
Christ the Hope of Jews and Gentiles
8 For I tell you that Christ (K)became a servant to the circumcised to show God's truthfulness, in order (L)to confirm the promises given to the patriarchs, 9 and in order (M)that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written,
(N)“Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles,
and sing to your name.”
10 And again it says,
(O)“Rejoice, O Gentiles, with his people.”
11 And again,
(P)“Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles,
and let all the peoples extol him.”
12 And again Isaiah says,
(Q)(R)“The root of Jesse will come,
even he who arises to rule the Gentiles;
(S)in him will the Gentiles hope.”
13 May the God of hope fill you with all (T)joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

and those who have never heard will understand.”

30 I appeal to you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by (AR)the love of the Spirit, (AS)to strive together with me in your prayers to God on my behalf, 31 (AT)that I may be delivered from the unbelievers in Judea, and that (AU)my service for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints, 32 so that by God's will I may come to you with joy and (AV)be refreshed in your company. 33 May (AW)the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
