²³ And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have ^(A)the firstfruits of the Spirit, ^(B)groan inwardly as ^(C)we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, ^(D)the redemption of our bodies. ²⁴ For ^(E)in this hope we were saved. Now ^(F)hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? ²⁵ But if we hope for what we do not see, we ^(G)wait for it with patience.

³ knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come ^(A)in the last days with scoffing, ^(B)following their own sinful desires. ^4 (C)They will say, “Where is the promise of ^(D)his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.”

^12 (A)waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and ^(B)the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! ¹³ But according to his promise we are waiting for ^(C)new heavens and a new earth ^(D)in which righteousness dwells.
