²⁴ they are now justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,^(A)

⁵ even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ^[a]—by grace you have been saved— ⁶ and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places^[b] in Christ Jesus, ⁷ so that in the ages to come he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. ⁸ For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God—

¹¹ For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all,^[a](A)

⁴ But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared,^(A)

⁵ he saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy, through the water^[a] of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.^(A)
