¹⁹ Now we know that whatever the law says^(A) speaks to those who are subject to the law,^[a](B) so that every mouth may be shut and the whole world may become subject to God’s judgment.^[b](C)

²³ For all have sinned^(A) and fall short of the^[a] glory of God.

³² For God has imprisoned all in disobedience,^(A) so that He may have mercy on all.

²² But the Scripture has imprisoned everything under sin’s power,^[a](A) so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ^(B) might be given to those who believe.^(C)
