⁶ Whoever observes the day, observes it for the honor of the Lord.^[a] Whoever eats, eats for the Lord, since he gives thanks to God;^(A) and whoever does not eat, it is for the Lord that he does not eat it, and he gives thanks to God.

¹⁶ Therefore, don’t let anyone judge^(A) you in regard to food and drink^(B) or in the matter of a festival or a new moon^(C) or a Sabbath day.^[a]

²³ Although these have a reputation for wisdom^(A) by promoting self-made religion, false humility, and severe treatment of the body, they are not of any value in curbing self-indulgence.^[a](B)

³ For this is God’s will,^(A) your sanctification:^(B) that you keep away^(C) from sexual immorality,

²² Stay away^(A) from every kind of evil.

A Call to Good Works

¹¹ Dear friends, I urge you as strangers and exiles^(A) to abstain^(B) from sinful^(C) desires that wage war against the soul.^(D)
