22 Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God's kindness to you, (A)provided you continue in his kindness. Otherwise (B)you too will be cut off. 23 And (C)even they, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God has the power to graft them in again. 24 For if you were cut from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and grafted, contrary to nature, into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, the natural branches, be grafted back into their own olive tree.

The Mystery of Israel's Salvation

25 (D)Lest you be wise in your own sight, I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers:[a] (E)a partial hardening has come upon Israel, (F)until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written,

(G)“The Deliverer will come (H)from Zion,
    he will banish ungodliness from Jacob”;
27 “and this will be my (I)covenant with them
(J)when I take away their sins.”

28 As regards the gospel, they are enemies for your sake. But as regards election, they are (K)beloved for the sake of their forefathers. 29 For the gifts and (L)the calling of God are irrevocable. 30 For just as (M)you were at one time disobedient to God but now have received mercy because of their disobedience, 31 so they too have now been disobedient in order that by the mercy shown to you they also may now[b] receive mercy. 32 For God (N)has consigned all to disobedience, that he may have mercy on all.

33 Oh, the depth of the riches and (O)wisdom and knowledge of God! (P)How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!

34 “For (Q)who has known the mind of the Lord,
or (R)who has been his counselor?”
35 “Or (S)who has given a gift to him
    that he might be repaid?”

36 For (T)from him and through him and to him are all things. (U)To him be glory forever. Amen.

A Living Sacrifice

12 (V)I appeal to you therefore, brothers,[c] by the mercies of God, (W)to present your bodies (X)as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.[d] (Y)Do not be conformed to this world,[e] but be transformed by (Z)the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may (AA)discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.[f]

Gifts of Grace

For (AB)by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you (AC)not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, (AD)each according to (AE)the measure of faith that God has assigned. For (AF)as in one body we have many members,[g] and the members do not all have the same function, so we, (AG)though many, (AH)are one body in Christ, and individually (AI)members one of another. (AJ)Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if (AK)prophecy, (AL)in proportion to our faith; if (AM)service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; (AN)the one who leads,[h] with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with (AO)cheerfulness.

Marks of the True Christian

(AP)Let love be genuine. (AQ)Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. 10 (AR)Love one another with brotherly affection. (AS)Outdo one another in showing honor. 11 Do not be slothful in zeal, (AT)be fervent in spirit,[i] (AU)serve the Lord. 12 (AV)Rejoice in hope, (AW)be patient in tribulation, (AX)be constant in prayer. 13 (AY)Contribute to the needs of the saints and (AZ)seek to show hospitality.

14 (BA)Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. 15 (BB)Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. 16 (BC)Live in harmony with one another. (BD)Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly.[j] (BE)Never be wise in your own sight. 17 (BF)Repay no one evil for evil, but (BG)give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, (BH)live peaceably with all. 19 Beloved, (BI)never avenge yourselves, but leave it[k] to the wrath of God, for it is written, (BJ)“Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” 20 To the contrary, (BK)“if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
