7 O forse ignorate, fratelli - parlo a gente esperta di legge - che la legge ha potere sull'uomo solo per il tempo in cui egli vive? 2 La donna sposata, infatti, è legata dalla legge al marito finché egli vive; ma se il marito muore, è libera dalla legge che la lega al marito. 3 Essa sarà dunque chiamata adultera se, mentre vive il marito, passa a un altro uomo, ma se il marito muore, essa è libera dalla legge e non è più adultera se passa a un altro uomo.

La Nuova Diodati
7 Ignorate, fratelli (perché parlo a persone che hanno conoscenza della legge), che la legge ha potere sull'uomo per tutto il tempo che egli vive?
2 Infatti una donna sposata è per legge legata al marito finché egli vive, ma se il marito muore, ella è sciolta dalla legge del marito.
3 Perciò, se mentre vive il marito ella diventa moglie di un altro uomo, sarà chiamata adultera; ma quando il marito muore, ella è liberata da quella legge, per cui non è considerata adultera se diventa moglie di un altro uomo.

Released From the Law, Bound to Christ
7 Do you not know, brothers and sisters(A)—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law has authority over someone only as long as that person lives? 2 For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law that binds her to him.(B) 3 So then, if she has sexual relations with another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress.(C) But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress if she marries another man.
