For this reason her plagues will come in just one day—
death and grief and famine.(A)
She will be burned up with fire,(B)
because the Lord God who judges(C) her is mighty.(D)

The World Mourns Babylon’s Fall

The kings of the earth who have committed sexual immorality and shared her sensual and excessive ways will weep and mourn over her when they see the smoke from her burning. 10 They will stand far off in fear of her torment,(E) saying,

Woe, woe, the great city,(F)
Babylon, the mighty city!
For in a single hour
your judgment has come.

Threefold Woe Over Babylon’s Fall

“When the kings of the earth who committed adultery with her(C) and shared her luxury(D) see the smoke of her burning,(E) they will weep and mourn over her.(F) 10 Terrified at her torment, they will stand far off(G) and cry:

“‘Woe! Woe to you, great city,(H)
    you mighty city of Babylon!
In one hour(I) your doom has come!’
