14 He deceives those who live on the earth(A) because of the signs that he is permitted to perform on behalf of the beast,(B) telling those who live on the earth to make an image[a] of the beast who had the sword wound and yet lived. 15 He was permitted to give a spirit[b] to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast could both speak and cause whoever would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 And he requires everyone—small and great, rich and poor, free and slave—to be given a mark[c] on his right hand or on his forehead,(C)

14 Because of the signs(A) it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived(B) the inhabitants of the earth.(C) It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived.(D) 15 The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship(E) the image to be killed.(F) 16 It also forced all people, great and small,(G) rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads,(H)

14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
