¹⁶ So, because you are lukewarm and neither cold nor hot, I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

⁵ Remember, then, from where you have fallen; repent and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.

⁸ In one month I disposed of the three shepherds, for I had become impatient with them, and they also detested me.^{(A) 9} So I said, “I will not be your shepherd. What is to die, let it die; what is to be destroyed, let it be destroyed; and let those that are left devour the flesh of one another!”

Punishment Is Inevitable

15 Then the Lord said to me: Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my heart would not turn toward this people. Send them out of my sight, and let them go!^{(A) 2} And when they say to you, “Where shall we go?” you shall say to them: Thus says the Lord:

³ And I will appoint over them four kinds of destroyers, says the Lord: the sword to kill, the dogs to drag away, and the birds of the air and the wild animals of the earth to devour and destroy.^{(C) 4} I will make them a horror to all the kingdoms of the earth because of what King Manasseh son of Hezekiah of Judah did in Jerusalem.^(D)
