Resansman 32
Haitian Creole Version
32 ¶ Moun branch fanmi Woubenn ak moun branch fanmi Gad yo te gen anpil anpil bèt. Lè yo wè jan peyi Jazè a ak peyi Galarad la te bon pou fè gadinaj,
2 yo vin jwenn Moyiz, Eleaza, prèt la, ak chèf fanmi pèp Izrayèl yo, yo di yo konsa:
3 -Tout rejyon kote nou jwenn lavil sa yo: Atawo, Dibon, Jazè, Nimra, Esbon, Eleyale, Sèbam, Nebo ak Biyon,
4 tout peyi Seyè a te ede moun pèp Izrayèl yo pran pou yo bò isit la, se tè ki bon pou fè gadinaj, lèfini nou menm nou gen anpil bèt.
5 Tanpri, si ou vle fè nou favè sa a, ban nou peyi sa a pou pòsyon pa nou. Pa fòse nou janbe lòt bò larivyè Jouden an.
6 Moyiz reponn yo: -Nou ta renmen rete isit la pandan lòt frè nou yo pral nan goumen?
12 an wetan Kalèb, pitit gason Jefoune, moun fanmi Kenaz yo, ak Jozye, pitit gason Noun lan.
14 Epi koulye a, nou vle fè tankou papa nou yo? Ou byen wè se pitit yo nou ye vre! Nou pral fè Seyè a pi move ankò sou pèp Izrayèl la.
15 Si nou vire do nou ba li, l'a fè pèp la rete pi lontan ankò nan dezè a.
16 ¶ Yo pwoche bò Moyiz, yo di l' konsa: -Pou konmanse, nou ta renmen moute kloti ak wòch pou fèmen pak bèt nou yo, epi nou ta renmen bati lavil ak ranpa pou pitit nou yo.
17 Men, nou menm gason yo, nou tou pare pou n' ale goumen ansanm ak rès moun pèp Izrayèl yo, pou nou pran devan lè n'ap atake lènmi jouk yo rive nan peyi ki pou yo a. Pandan tan sa a, moun pa nou yo menm va rete isit la nan lavil ak ranpa yo kote moun peyi a p'ap ka fè yo anyen.
18 Nou p'ap tounen lakay nou toutotan tout lòt moun nan pèp Izrayèl la poko jwenn pòsyon tè ki pou yo a.
19 Nou p'ap pran anyen nan tè ki pou yo lòt bò larivyè Jouden an, paske yo ban nou tè ki bò isit larivyè Jouden an, sou kote solèy leve a, pou pòsyon pa nou.
20 Moyiz di yo konsa: -Si nou fè tou sa nou sot di la a, si vreman vre nou pare pou n' al goumen devan Seyè a,
21 si tout gason ki ka goumen pami nou yo janbe lòt bò larivyè Jouden an devan Seyè a, jouk Seyè a va fin kraze tout lènmi l' yo devan li,
22 enben, apre tout peyi a va tonbe anba men Seyè a, n'a tounen vin lakay nou, paske n'a fin fè tou sa nou te dwe fè pou Seyè a ak pou pèp Izrayèl la. Lè sa a, tout peyi ki bò isit la va rele nou pa nou devan Seyè a.
23 Men, si nou pa fè tou sa, konnen se kont Seyè a menm n'a peche. N'a peye konsekans peche nou an.
24 Nou mèt bati lavil ak ranpa pou moun pa nou yo.
29 Li di yo: -Si gason nan branch fanmi Woubenn ak nan branch fanmi Gad yo janbe lòt bò larivyè Jouden an avèk nou tou pare pou y' al goumen devan Seyè a, lè tout peyi a va anba men nou, n'a ba yo tè peyi Galarad la pou yo.
30 Men, si yo pa janbe lòt bò larivyè Jouden an pou y' al goumen avèk nou, y'a resevwa pòsyon tè pa yo nan peyi Kanaran an ansanm ak nou.
31 Mesye branch fanmi Woubenn ak branch fanmi Gad yo reponn Moyiz, yo di l' konsa: -N'a fè tou sa Seyè a mande nou fè. Se sèvitè li nou ye.
32 N'a janbe lòt bò larivyè a tou pare pou n' al goumen devan Seyè a, n'a antre nan peyi Kanaran an. Men toutjan, nou mande pou yo ban nou pòsyon tè ki bò isit larivyè Jouden an pou nou.
35 Atawo, Sofam, Jaze ak Jobeya,
36 Bèt-Nimra, Bèt aran. Yo rebati yo avèk ranpa pou pwoteje yo, yo fè pak tou pou mouton ak kabrit.
37 Moun fanmi Woubenn yo menm rebati lavil sa yo: Esbon, Elealè, Kiryatayim,
38 Nebo, Baal Meyon ak Sibma. Yo te chanje non lavil Nebo ak Baal Meyon. Yo bay tout lavil yo rebati yo lòt non.
39 Moun fanmi Maki, pitit gason Manase a, pati pou peyi Galarad kote moun Amori yo te rete a. Yo anvayi tout peyi a, yo mete moun Amori yo deyò.
40 Se konsa tou, Moyiz bay moun fanmi Maki, pitit gason Manase a, peyi Galarad la pou yo rete.
41 Moun fanmi Jayi, pitit gason Manase a, al atake yon seri ti bouk. Yo anvayi yo epi yo rele yo Bouk Jayi.
42 Noba menm al atake lavil Kenat ak lòt ti bouk ki sou lòd li yo. l' anvayi l', epi li ba li non l'. Li rele l' Noba.
Numbers 32
EasyEnglish Bible
Land on the east side of the Jordan River
32 The people in the tribes of Reuben and Gad had very many animals. They saw that the land in Jazer and Gilead was good for their animals. 2 They went to speak to Moses, Eleazar and the other leaders of the Israelites. 3 They said, ‘The land at Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo and Beon 4 is good for animals. The Lord has given all this land to us Israelites. We have very many animals, 5 so please let us have this land for our animals. Let us have this land to live on, instead of land on the other side of the Jordan River.’[a]
6 Moses said to the men of Reuben and Gad, ‘The other Israelite tribes will go across the river to fight against the people who live there. It is not fair that you should stay here! 7 If you stay here, the rest of the Israelites may not want to cross the river. Do not stop them going into the land that the Lord has given to them! 8 Your fathers did the same thing when I sent them from Kadesh-Barnea to look at the land of Canaan. 9 They went to Eshcol valley and they saw the land. But they told the Israelites that it was not a good idea to go into Canaan. So the people did not go into the land that the Lord had given to them. 10 As a result, the Lord was very angry with them. 11 He promised, “None of the men that I brought out from Egypt will go into the land. It is the land that I promised to give to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. But they have not trusted me completely. So any man who is 20 years old or older will not go into this land. 12 Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun are the only men who will go into the land. They are the only men who trusted me completely.”
13 At that time, the Lord was angry with all the Israelites. He caused them to travel in the desert for 40 years. After that, all the men who had turned against him were dead.’
14 Moses continued to say, ‘Now you are turning against God, as your fathers did. You are as bad as them! You will cause the Lord to be even more angry with the Israelites. 15 If you turn against him, he will leave them here in the desert. If all the Israelite people die, it will be because of you!’
16 The men of Reuben and Gad said to Moses, ‘Let us build strong houses here for our women and our children. We will also build places to keep our animals safe. 17 Then we will be ready to join the other tribes and we will lead them to the battle. While we are fighting, our families will be safe here. The people who live in this land will not be able to hurt them. 18 We will not return to our homes here until all the Israelite tribes receive their own part of the land. 19 We will not receive any of the land on the other side of the Jordan River. Our part of the land will be here, on the east side of the river.’
20 Moses said to the men, ‘You must really do as you have said. You must take your weapons and go to fight for the Lord. 21 Your men must cross over the Jordan River with the other tribes. You must continue to fight until we have won against all our enemies. 22 When the Lord has power over the whole land, then you can return here. You will have done everything that the Lord wants you to do. You will have helped the whole Israelite nation in the way that you should. The Lord will give to you this land on the east side of the Jordan River.
23 But if you do not do what you have promised, that will be a sin against the Lord. And be sure that God will punish you for your sin. 24 So build towns for your families, and build safe places for your animals. But then do everything that you have promised to do.’
25 The men in the tribes of Gad and Reuben said to Moses, ‘Yes sir, we will do what you have said. 26 Our women, children and our animals will stay here in Gilead's towns. 27 But all our men who are able to fight will cross over the river. We will fight on behalf of the Lord, as you have said that we should do.’
28 Moses gave this message to Eleazar the priest, to Joshua the son of Nun and to the leaders of the family clans. 29 He said to them, ‘The men in Reuben's tribe and in Gad's tribe must cross over the Jordan River to fight with you on behalf of the Lord. If they do that, you must give to them the land here in Gilead. When you have won power over the whole land, then this land will belong to them. 30 If they refuse to fight together with the other tribes, they will have no land here. They must have part of the land in Canaan, like the other tribes.’
31 The men in the tribes of Reuben and Gad said, ‘We will do what the Lord has told us to do. 32 We will take our weapons and we will cross over the Jordan River to fight on behalf of the Lord in Canaan. But then we will live in our land here on this side of the river.’
33 So Moses gave to them all the kingdom of Sihon, king of the Amorites and Og, the king of Bashan. He gave to them the land with its towns and all the land round the towns. He gave it to the descendants of Gad and of Reuben and half of the tribe of Joseph's son Manasseh.
34 The men in the tribe of Gad built up again Dibon, Ataroth and Aroer. 35 They also built up again Atroth-Shophan, Jazer, Jogbehah, 36 Beth-Nimrah and Beth-Haran. They built houses for their families and their animals. 37 The men in the tribe of Reuben built up again Heshbon, Elealeh, Kiriathaim. 38 Nebo, Baal-Meon and Sibmah. They gave new names to the cities that they built up again.
39 The descendants of Makir, the son of Manasseh, attacked Gilead. They sent away the people who lived there. 40 So Moses gave Gilead to the descendants of Makir who was the son of Manasseh. And they lived there. 41 Jair, who was a descendant of Manasseh, attacked some villages. He got power over them and he called them Havvoth-Jair. 42 Nobah attacked Kenath and the villages round it. He called it Nobah, like his own name.

- 32:5 The Israelites were getting near to Canaan from the south-east. They already had power over much of the land east of the Jordan River.
Numbers 32
New International Version
The Transjordan Tribes
32 The Reubenites and Gadites, who had very large herds and flocks,(A) saw that the lands of Jazer(B) and Gilead(C) were suitable for livestock.(D) 2 So they came to Moses and Eleazar the priest and to the leaders of the community,(E) and said, 3 “Ataroth,(F) Dibon,(G) Jazer,(H) Nimrah,(I) Heshbon,(J) Elealeh,(K) Sebam,(L) Nebo(M) and Beon(N)— 4 the land the Lord subdued(O) before the people of Israel—are suitable for livestock,(P) and your servants have livestock. 5 If we have found favor in your eyes,” they said, “let this land be given to your servants as our possession. Do not make us cross the Jordan.(Q)”
6 Moses said to the Gadites and Reubenites, “Should your fellow Israelites go to war while you sit here? 7 Why do you discourage the Israelites from crossing over into the land the Lord has given them?(R) 8 This is what your fathers did when I sent them from Kadesh Barnea to look over the land.(S) 9 After they went up to the Valley of Eshkol(T) and viewed the land, they discouraged the Israelites from entering the land the Lord had given them. 10 The Lord’s anger was aroused(U) that day and he swore this oath:(V) 11 ‘Because they have not followed me wholeheartedly, not one of those who were twenty years old or more(W) when they came up out of Egypt(X) will see the land I promised on oath(Y) to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob(Z)— 12 not one except Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua son of Nun, for they followed the Lord wholeheartedly.’(AA) 13 The Lord’s anger burned against Israel(AB) and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until the whole generation of those who had done evil in his sight was gone.(AC)
14 “And here you are, a brood of sinners, standing in the place of your fathers and making the Lord even more angry with Israel.(AD) 15 If you turn away from following him, he will again leave all this people in the wilderness, and you will be the cause of their destruction.(AE)”
16 Then they came up to him and said, “We would like to build pens(AF) here for our livestock(AG) and cities for our women and children. 17 But we will arm ourselves for battle[a] and go ahead of the Israelites(AH) until we have brought them to their place.(AI) Meanwhile our women and children will live in fortified cities, for protection from the inhabitants of the land. 18 We will not return to our homes until each of the Israelites has received their inheritance.(AJ) 19 We will not receive any inheritance with them on the other side of the Jordan, because our inheritance(AK) has come to us on the east side of the Jordan.”(AL)
20 Then Moses said to them, “If you will do this—if you will arm yourselves before the Lord for battle(AM) 21 and if all of you who are armed cross over the Jordan before the Lord until he has driven his enemies out before him(AN)— 22 then when the land is subdued before the Lord, you may return(AO) and be free from your obligation to the Lord and to Israel. And this land will be your possession(AP) before the Lord.(AQ)
23 “But if you fail to do this, you will be sinning against the Lord; and you may be sure that your sin will find you out.(AR) 24 Build cities for your women and children, and pens for your flocks,(AS) but do what you have promised.(AT)”
25 The Gadites and Reubenites said to Moses, “We your servants will do as our lord commands.(AU) 26 Our children and wives, our flocks and herds will remain here in the cities of Gilead.(AV) 27 But your servants, every man who is armed for battle, will cross over to fight(AW) before the Lord, just as our lord says.”
28 Then Moses gave orders about them(AX) to Eleazar the priest and Joshua son of Nun(AY) and to the family heads of the Israelite tribes.(AZ) 29 He said to them, “If the Gadites and Reubenites, every man armed for battle, cross over the Jordan with you before the Lord, then when the land is subdued before you,(BA) you must give them the land of Gilead as their possession.(BB) 30 But if they do not cross over(BC) with you armed, they must accept their possession with you in Canaan.(BD)”
31 The Gadites and Reubenites answered, “Your servants will do what the Lord has said.(BE) 32 We will cross over before the Lord into Canaan armed,(BF) but the property we inherit will be on this side of the Jordan.(BG)”
33 Then Moses gave to the Gadites,(BH) the Reubenites and the half-tribe of Manasseh(BI) son of Joseph the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites(BJ) and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan(BK)—the whole land with its cities and the territory around them.(BL)
34 The Gadites built up Dibon, Ataroth, Aroer,(BM) 35 Atroth Shophan, Jazer,(BN) Jogbehah,(BO) 36 Beth Nimrah(BP) and Beth Haran as fortified cities, and built pens for their flocks.(BQ) 37 And the Reubenites rebuilt Heshbon,(BR) Elealeh(BS) and Kiriathaim,(BT) 38 as well as Nebo(BU) and Baal Meon (these names were changed) and Sibmah.(BV) They gave names to the cities they rebuilt.
39 The descendants of Makir(BW) son of Manasseh went to Gilead,(BX) captured it and drove out the Amorites(BY) who were there. 40 So Moses gave Gilead to the Makirites,(BZ) the descendants of Manasseh, and they settled there. 41 Jair,(CA) a descendant of Manasseh, captured their settlements and called them Havvoth Jair.[b](CB) 42 And Nobah captured Kenath(CC) and its surrounding settlements and called it Nobah(CD) after himself.(CE)
