Psalm 27:7-31:5
English Standard Version
7 (A)Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud;
be gracious to me and answer me!
8 You have said, (B)“Seek[a] my face.”
My heart says to you,
“Your face, Lord, do I seek.”[b]
9 (C)Hide not your face from me.
Turn not your servant away in anger,
O you who have been my help.
Cast me not off; forsake me not,
(D)O God of my salvation!
10 For (E)my father and my mother have forsaken me,
but the Lord will (F)take me in.
11 (G)Teach me your way, O Lord,
and lead me on (H)a level path
because of my enemies.
12 (I)Give me not up to the will of my adversaries;
for (J)false witnesses have risen against me,
and they (K)breathe out violence.
13 I believe that I shall look[c] upon (L)the goodness of the Lord
in (M)the land of the living!
14 (N)Wait for the Lord;
(O)be strong, and let your heart take courage;
wait for the Lord!
The Lord Is My Strength and My Shield
Of David.
28 To you, O Lord, I call;
(P)my rock, be not deaf to me,
lest, if you (Q)be silent to me,
I become like those who (R)go down to the pit.
2 (S)Hear the voice of my pleas for mercy,
when I cry to you for help,
when I (T)lift up my hands
(U)toward your most holy sanctuary.[d]
3 Do not (V)drag me off with the wicked,
with the workers of evil,
(W)who speak peace with their neighbors
while evil is in their hearts.
4 (X)Give to them according to their work
and according to the evil of their deeds;
give to them according to the work of their hands;
(Y)render them their due reward.
5 Because they (Z)do not regard the works of the Lord
or the work of his hands,
he will tear them down and build them up no more.
6 Blessed be the Lord!
For he has (AA)heard the voice of my pleas for mercy.
7 The Lord is my strength and (AB)my shield;
in him my heart (AC)trusts, and I am helped;
my heart exults,
and with my (AD)song I give thanks to him.
8 The Lord is the strength of his people;[e]
he is (AE)the saving refuge of his anointed.
9 Oh, save your people and bless (AF)your heritage!
(AG)Be their shepherd and (AH)carry them forever.
Ascribe to the Lord Glory
A Psalm of David.
29 Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings,[f]
(AI)ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
2 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
worship the Lord in (AJ)the splendor of holiness.[g]
3 The voice of the Lord is over (AK)the waters;
the God of glory (AL)thunders,
the Lord, over many waters.
4 The voice of the Lord is (AM)powerful;
the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.
5 The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
the Lord breaks (AN)the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He makes Lebanon to (AO)skip like a calf,
and (AP)Sirion like a young (AQ)wild ox.
7 The voice of the Lord flashes forth flames of fire.
8 The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness;
the Lord shakes the wilderness of (AR)Kadesh.
9 The voice of the Lord makes (AS)the deer give birth[h]
and strips the forests bare,
and in his temple all cry, “Glory!”
10 The Lord sits enthroned over (AT)the flood;
the Lord sits enthroned (AU)as king forever.
11 May the Lord give (AV)strength to his people!
May the Lord bless[i] his people with (AW)peace!
Joy Comes with the Morning
A Psalm of David. A song at the dedication of (AX)the temple.
30 I will (AY)extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up
and have not let my foes (AZ)rejoice over me.
2 O Lord my God, I (BA)cried to you for help,
and you have (BB)healed me.
3 O Lord, you have brought up my soul from (BC)Sheol;
you restored me to life from among those who (BD)go down to the pit.[j]
4 Sing praises to the Lord, O you (BE)his saints,
and (BF)give thanks to his holy name.[k]
5 (BG)For his anger is but for a moment,
and (BH)his favor is for a lifetime.[l]
(BI)Weeping may tarry for the night,
but (BJ)joy comes with the morning.
6 As for me, I said in my (BK)prosperity,
“I shall never be (BL)moved.”
7 By your favor, O Lord,
you made my (BM)mountain stand strong;
you (BN)hid your face;
I was (BO)dismayed.
8 To you, O Lord, I cry,
and (BP)to the Lord I plead for mercy:
9 “What profit is there in my death,[m]
if I go down to the pit?[n]
Will (BQ)the dust praise you?
Will it tell of your faithfulness?
10 (BR)Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me!
O Lord, be my helper!”
11 You have turned for me my mourning into (BS)dancing;
you have loosed my sackcloth
and clothed me with gladness,
12 that my (BT)glory may sing your praise and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!
Into Your Hand I Commit My Spirit
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.
31 (BU)In you, O Lord, do I (BV)take refuge;
(BW)let me never be put to shame;
in your (BX)righteousness deliver me!
2 Incline your ear to me;
rescue me speedily!
Be (BY)a rock of (BZ)refuge for me,
a strong fortress to save me!
3 For you are my rock and my fortress;
and for your (CA)name's sake you lead me and guide me;
4 you (CB)take me out of (CC)the net they have hidden for me,
for you are my (CD)refuge.
5 (CE)Into your hand I commit my spirit;
you have redeemed me, O Lord, (CF)faithful God.
