8 Een psalm van David voor de koordirigent. Te begeleiden met het muziekinstrument uit Gath.
2 Here, onze God,
de majesteit en glorie van uw naam
vullen de gehele aarde
en de hemelen vloeien ervan over.
3 U hebt de kleine kinderen geleerd
U volmaakt te prijzen.
Hun voorbeeld zal uw vijanden
en hen die op wraak zinnen,
beschaamd doen staan
en tot zwijgen brengen!
4 Als ik ʼs nachts omhoog kijk naar de hemel
en het werk van uw handen zie,
de maan en de sterren,
die U hun plaats gegeven hebt,
5 wat is dan de mens,
dat U zoveel om hem geeft?
Wat is een mensenkind
dat U Zich om hem bekommert?
6 En U hebt hem een plaats vlak onder Uzelf gegeven,
U hebt hem gekroond met heerlijkheid en eer.
7 U hebt hem zelfs het beheer gegeven
over alles wat U hebt gemaakt,
alles staat onder zijn gezag:
8 alle schapen en runderen
en andere dieren in het veld,
9 de vogels in de lucht
en de vissen en andere wezens in de zee.
10 O Here, onze God,
de majesteit en glorie van uw naam
vullen de hele aarde!

8 Az éneklõmesternek a gittithre; Dávid zsoltára.
2 Mi Urunk Istenünk, mily felséges a te neved az egész földön, a ki az egekre helyezted dicsõségedet.
3 A csecsemõk és csecsszopók szájával erõsítetted meg hatalmadat a te ellenségeid miatt, hogy a gyûlölködõt és bosszúállót elnémítsd.
4 Mikor látom egeidet, a te újjaidnak munkáját; a holdat és a csillagokat, a melyeket teremtettél:
5 Micsoda az ember - [mondom] - hogy megemlékezel róla? és az embernek fia, hogy gondod van reá?
6 Hiszen kevéssel tetted õt kisebbé az Istennél, és dicsõséggel és tisztességgel megkoronáztad õt!
7 Úrrá tetted õt kezeid munkáin, mindent lábai alá vetettél;
8 Juhokat és mindenféle barmot, és még a mezõnek vadait is;
9 Az ég madarait és a tenger halait, [mindent], a mi a tenger ösvényein jár.
10 Mi Urunk Istenünk, mily felséges a te neved az egész földön!

For the director of music. According to gittith.[b] A psalm of David.
1 Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name(A) in all the earth!
You have set your glory(B)
in the heavens.(C)
2 Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold(D) against your enemies,
to silence the foe(E) and the avenger.
3 When I consider your heavens,(F)
the work of your fingers,(G)
the moon and the stars,(H)
which you have set in place,
4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?[c](I)
5 You have made them[d] a little lower than the angels[e](J)
and crowned them[f] with glory and honor.(K)
6 You made them rulers(L) over the works of your hands;(M)
you put everything under their[g] feet:(N)
7 all flocks and herds,(O)
and the animals of the wild,(P)
8 the birds in the sky,
and the fish in the sea,(Q)
all that swim the paths of the seas.
9 Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!(R)
