The Lord Our God Is Holy

99 (A)The Lord reigns; (B)let the peoples tremble!
    He (C)sits enthroned upon the cherubim; (D)let the earth quake!
The Lord is (E)great in Zion;
    he is (F)exalted over all the peoples.
Let them praise your (G)great and awesome name!
    (H)Holy is he!
(I)The King in his might (J)loves justice.[a]
    You have established equity;
you have executed justice
    and righteousness in Jacob.
(K)Exalt the Lord our God;
    (L)worship at his (M)footstool!
    (N)Holy is he!

(O)Moses and Aaron were among his (P)priests,
    Samuel also was among those who (Q)called upon his name.
    They (R)called to the Lord, and he answered them.
In (S)the pillar of the cloud he spoke to them;
    they (T)kept his testimonies
    and the statute that he gave them.

O Lord our God, you answered them;
    you were (U)a forgiving God to them,
    but (V)an avenger of their wrongdoings.
Exalt the Lord our God,
    and worship at his (W)holy mountain;
    for the Lord our God is holy!

    and his (K)courts with praise!

I Will Walk with Integrity

A Psalm of David.

101 I will sing of (A)steadfast love and justice;
    to you, O Lord, I will make music.
I will (B)ponder the way (C)that is blameless.
    Oh when will you (D)come to me?
I will (E)walk with (F)integrity of heart
    within my house;
I will not set before my eyes
    anything (G)that is worthless.
I hate the work of those who (H)fall away;
    it shall not cling to me.
(I)A perverse heart shall be far from me;
    I will (J)know nothing of evil.

Whoever slanders his neighbor (K)secretly
    I will (L)destroy.
Whoever has a (M)haughty look and an (N)arrogant heart
    I will not endure.

I will look with favor on the faithful in the land,
    that they may dwell with me;
he who walks in (O)the way that is blameless
    shall minister to me.

No one who (P)practices deceit
    shall dwell in my house;
no one who utters lies
    shall (Q)continue before my eyes.

(R)Morning by morning I will destroy
    all the wicked in the land,
(S)cutting off all (T)the evildoers
    from (U)the city of the Lord.

The Philistines Reject David

29 (A)Now the Philistines had gathered all their forces at (B)Aphek. And the Israelites were encamped by (C)the spring that is in (D)Jezreel. As (E)the lords of the Philistines were passing on by hundreds and by thousands, and David and his men were passing on in the rear (F)with Achish, the commanders of the Philistines said, “What are these Hebrews doing here?” And Achish said to the commanders of the Philistines, “Is this not David, the servant of Saul, king of Israel, who has been with me (G)now for days and years, and since he deserted to me (H)I have found no fault in him to this day.” But (I)the commanders of the Philistines were angry with him. And the commanders of the Philistines said to him, “Send the man back, that he may return (J)to the place to which you have assigned him. He shall not go down with us to battle, (K)lest in the battle he become an adversary to us. For how could this fellow reconcile himself to his lord? Would it not be with the heads of the men here? Is not this David, of whom they sing to one another in dances,

(L)‘Saul has struck down his thousands,
    and David his ten thousands’?”

Then Achish called David and said to him, (M)“As the Lord lives, you have been honest, and to me it seems right that (N)you should march out and in with me in the campaign. For I have found nothing wrong in you from the day of your coming to me to this day. Nevertheless, the lords do not approve of you. So go back now; and go peaceably, that you may not displease the lords of the Philistines.” And David said to Achish, “But what have I done? What have you found in your servant from the day I entered your service until now, that I may not go and fight against the enemies of my lord the king?” And Achish answered David and said, “I know that you are as blameless in my sight (O)as an angel of God. Nevertheless, (P)the commanders of the Philistines have said, ‘He shall not go up with us to the battle.’ 10 Now then rise early in the morning (Q)with the servants of your lord who came with you, and start early in the morning, and depart as soon as you have light.” 11 So David set out with his men early in the morning to return to the land of the Philistines. But the Philistines went up to (R)Jezreel.

10 Brothers,[a] my heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. For I bear them witness that (A)they have a zeal for God, (B)but not according to knowledge. For, being ignorant of (C)the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. For (D)Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.[b]

The Message of Salvation to All

For (E)Moses writes about the righteousness that is based on the law, that (F)the person who does the commandments shall live by them. But (G)the righteousness based on faith says, (H)“Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” (that is, to bring Christ down) “or ‘Who will descend into the (I)abyss?’” (that is, (J)to bring Christ up from the dead). But what does it say? (K)“The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); because, if (L)you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and (M)believe in your heart (N)that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11 For the Scripture says, (O)“Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” 12 (P)For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; (Q)for the same Lord is Lord of all, (R)bestowing his riches on all who call on him. 13 For (S)“everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him (T)of whom they have never heard?[c] And how are they to hear (U)without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, (V)“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” 16 But (W)they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, (X)“Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” 17 So (Y)faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

18 But I ask, have they not heard? Indeed they have, for

(Z)“Their voice has gone out (AA)to all the earth,
    and their words to the ends of the world.”

19 But I ask, did Israel not understand? First Moses says,

(AB)“I will (AC)make you jealous of those who are not a nation;
    with a (AD)foolish nation I will make you angry.”

20 Then Isaiah is so bold as to say,

(AE)“I have been found by those who did not seek me;
    I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me.”

21 But of Israel he says, (AF)“All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people.”
