How Great Are Your Works

A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath.

92 (A)It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
    to sing praises to your name, (B)O Most High;
to declare your (C)steadfast love in (D)the morning,
    and your (E)faithfulness by (F)night,
to the music of (G)the lute and (H)the harp,
    to the melody of (I)the lyre.
For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your (J)work;
    at (K)the works of your hands I sing for joy.

How (L)great are your works, O Lord!
    Your (M)thoughts are very (N)deep!
The stupid man cannot know;
    the fool cannot understand this:
that though (O)the wicked sprout like grass
    and all (P)evildoers flourish,
they are doomed to destruction forever;
    but you, O Lord, are (Q)on high forever.
For behold, your enemies, O Lord,
    for behold, your enemies shall perish;
    all evildoers shall be (R)scattered.

10 But you have exalted my (S)horn like that of (T)the wild ox;
    you have (U)poured over me[a] fresh oil.
11 My (V)eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies;
    my ears have heard the doom of my evil assailants.

12 (W)The righteous flourish like the palm tree
    and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 They are planted in the house of the Lord;
    they flourish in (X)the courts of our God.
14 They still bear fruit in old age;
    they are ever full of sap and green,
15 (Y)to declare that the Lord is upright;
    he is my (Z)rock, and there is (AA)no unrighteousness in him.

  1. Psalm 92:10 Compare Syriac; the meaning of the Hebrew is uncertain

18 Moses said, “Please (A)show me your glory.” 19 And he said, (B)“I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name ‘The Lord.’ And (C)I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. 20 But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for (D)man shall not see me and live.” 21 And the Lord said, “Behold, there is a place by me where you shall stand on the rock, 22 and while my glory passes by I will put you in a (E)cleft of the rock, and I will (F)cover you with my hand until I have passed by. 23 Then I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back, but my face shall (G)not be seen.”

The Word of Life

(A)That which was (B)from the beginning, (C)which we have heard, (D)which we have seen with our eyes, (E)which we looked upon and (F)have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life— (G)the life (H)was made manifest, and we have seen it, and (I)testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, (J)which was with the Father and (K)was made manifest to us— (L)that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed (M)our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. And we are writing these things so (N)that our[a] joy may be complete.

Walking in the Light

(O)This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that (P)God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. (Q)If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and (R)do not practice the truth. But (S)if we walk in the light, (T)as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and (U)the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. (V)If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and (W)the truth is not in us. (X)If we confess our sins, he is (Y)faithful and just to forgive us our sins and (Z)to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

  1. 1 John 1:4 Some manuscripts your

When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire in place, with fish laid out on it, and bread. 10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish that you have just caught.” 11 So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, 153 of them. And although there were so many, the net was not torn. 12 Jesus said to them, (A)“Come and (B)have breakfast.” Now (C)none of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. 13 Jesus came and (D)took the bread and gave it to them, and so with the fish. 14 (E)This was now the third time that Jesus was revealed to the disciples after he was raised from the dead.

Jesus and Peter

15 When they had (F)finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, (G)“Simon, (H)son of John, (I)do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed (J)my lambs.” 16 He said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, (K)“Tend (L)my sheep.” 17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him (M)the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, (N)you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed (O)my sheep. 18 (P)Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, (Q)you used to dress yourself and walk wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go.” 19 (This he said to show (R)by what kind of death he was to glorify God.) And after saying this he said to him, (S)“Follow me.”

Jesus and the Beloved Apostle

20 Peter turned and saw (T)the disciple whom Jesus loved following them, (U)the one who also had leaned back against him during the supper and had said, “Lord, who is it that is going to betray you?” 21 When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about this man?” 22 Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain (V)until (W)I come, what is that to you? (X)You follow me!” 23 So the saying spread abroad among (Y)the brothers[a] that this disciple was not to die; yet Jesus did not say to him that he was not to die, but, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you?”

24 This is the disciple (Z)who is bearing witness about these things, and who has written these things, and (AA)we know (AB)that his testimony is true.
