Psalm 87
English Standard Version
Glorious Things of You Are Spoken
A Psalm of (A)the Sons of Korah. A Song.
87 On (B)the holy mount (C)stands the city he founded;
2 the Lord (D)loves the gates of Zion
more than all the dwelling places of Jacob.
3 (E)Glorious things of you are spoken,
O (F)city of God. Selah
4 Among those who (G)know me I mention (H)Rahab and Babylon;
behold, Philistia and Tyre, with (I)Cush[a]—
“This one was born there,” they say.
5 And of Zion it shall be said,
“This one and that one were born in her”;
for the Most High himself will (J)establish her.
6 The Lord records as he (K)registers the peoples,
“This one was born there.” Selah

Book Four
From Everlasting to Everlasting
A (A)Prayer of Moses, the (B)man of God.
90 Lord, you have been our (C)dwelling place[a]
in all generations.
2 (D)Before the (E)mountains were brought forth,
or ever you had formed the earth and the world,
(F)from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
3 You return man to dust
and say, (G)“Return, (H)O children of man!”[b]
4 For (I)a thousand years in your sight
are but as (J)yesterday when it is past,
or as (K)a watch in the night.
5 You (L)sweep them away as with a flood; they are like (M)a dream,
like (N)grass that is renewed in the morning:
6 in (O)the morning it flourishes and is renewed;
in the evening it (P)fades and (Q)withers.
7 For we are brought to an end by your anger;
by your wrath we are dismayed.
8 You have (R)set our iniquities before you,
our (S)secret sins in the light of your presence.
9 For all our days pass away under your wrath;
we bring our years to an end like a sigh.
10 The years of our life are seventy,
or even by reason of strength eighty;
yet their span[c] is but toil and trouble;
they are soon gone, and we fly away.
11 Who considers the power of your anger,
and your wrath according to the fear of you?
12 (T)So teach us to number our days
that we may get a heart of wisdom.
13 (U)Return, O Lord! (V)How long?
Have (W)pity on your servants!
14 Satisfy us in the (X)morning with your steadfast love,
that we may (Y)rejoice and be glad all our days.
15 Make us glad for as many days as you have (Z)afflicted us,
and for as many years as we have seen evil.
16 Let your (AA)work be shown to your servants,
and your glorious power to their children.
17 Let the (AB)favor[d] of the Lord our God be upon us,
and establish (AC)the work of our hands upon us;
yes, establish the work of our hands!

His Steadfast Love Endures Forever
136 (A)Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
(B)for his steadfast love endures forever.
2 Give thanks to (C)the God of gods,
for his steadfast love endures forever.
3 Give thanks to (D)the Lord of lords,

4 to him who alone (E)does great wonders,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
5 to him who (F)by understanding (G)made the heavens,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
6 to him who (H)spread out the earth (I)above the waters,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
7 to him who (J)made the great lights,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
8 the sun to rule over the day,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
9 the moon and stars to rule over the night,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
10 to him who (K)struck down the firstborn of Egypt,

for his steadfast love endures forever;
13 to him who (N)divided the Red Sea in two,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
14 (O)and made Israel pass through the midst of it,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
15 but (P)overthrew[a] Pharaoh and his host in the Red Sea,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
16 to him who (Q)led his people through the wilderness,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
17 to him (R)who struck down great kings,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
18 and killed mighty kings,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
19 Sihon, king of the Amorites,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
20 and Og, king of Bashan,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
21 and gave their land as a heritage,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
22 a heritage to Israel his (S)servant,
for his steadfast love endures forever.
23 It is he who (T)remembered us in our low estate,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
24 and (U)rescued us from our foes,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
25 he who (V)gives food to all flesh,
for his steadfast love endures forever.
26 Give thanks to (W)the God of heaven,
for his steadfast love endures forever.

English Standard Version
4 And he said to me, (A)“Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak with my words to them. 5 For you are not sent to a people of foreign speech and a hard language, but to the house of Israel— 6 not to many peoples of foreign speech and a hard language, whose words you cannot understand. (B)Surely, if I sent you to such, they would listen to you. 7 (C)But the house of Israel will not be willing to listen to you, for they are not willing to listen to me: because all the house of Israel (D)have a hard forehead and a stubborn heart. 8 (E)Behold, I have made your face as hard as their faces, and your forehead as hard as their foreheads. 9 Like (F)emery harder than flint have I made your forehead. (G)Fear them not, nor be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house.” 10 Moreover, he said to me, “Son of man, (H)all my words that I shall speak to you receive (I)in your heart, and hear with your ears. 11 And go to the exiles, (J)to your people, and speak to them and say to them, (K)‘Thus says the Lord God,’ (L)whether they hear or refuse to hear.”
12 (M)Then the Spirit[a] lifted me up, and I heard behind me the voice[b] of (N)a great earthquake: “Blessed be the glory of the Lord from its place!” 13 It was the sound of the wings of (O)the living creatures as they touched one another, and the sound of the wheels beside them, and the sound of (P)a great earthquake. 14 (Q)The Spirit lifted me up and took me away, and I went in bitterness in the heat of my spirit, the (R)hand of the Lord being strong upon me. 15 (S)And I came to the exiles at Tel-abib, who were dwelling (T)by the Chebar canal, and I sat where they were dwelling.[c] And (U)I sat there (V)overwhelmed among them (W)seven days.
A Watchman for Israel
16 (X)And at the end of seven days, the word of the Lord came to me: 17 (Y)“Son of man, (Z)I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall (AA)give them warning from me.

English Standard Version
7 In the days of his flesh, (A)Jesus[a] offered up prayers and supplications, (B)with loud cries and tears, to him (C)who was able to save him from death, and (D)he was heard because of his reverence. 8 Although (E)he was a son, (F)he learned obedience through what he suffered. 9 And (G)being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him, 10 being designated by God a high priest (H)after the order of Melchizedek.
Warning Against Apostasy
11 About this we have much to say, and it is (I)hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. 12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again (J)the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need (K)milk, not solid food, 13 for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is (L)a child. 14 But solid food is for (M)the mature, for those who have their powers (N)of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.

Jesus Heals a Boy with an Unclean Spirit
37 (A)On the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, a great crowd met him. 38 And behold, a man from the crowd cried out, “Teacher, I beg you to look at my son, for (B)he is my only child. 39 And behold, a spirit seizes him, and he suddenly cries out. It convulses him so that he foams at the mouth, and shatters him, and will hardly leave him. 40 And I begged your disciples to cast it out, but (C)they could not.” 41 Jesus answered, “O (D)faithless and twisted generation, (E)how long am I to be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here.” 42 While he was coming, the demon threw him to the ground and convulsed him. But Jesus (F)rebuked the unclean spirit and healed the boy, and (G)gave him back to his father. 43 And all were astonished at (H)the majesty of God.
Jesus Again Foretells His Death
(I)But while they were all marveling at everything he was doing, Jesus[a] said (J)to his disciples, 44 “Let these words sink into your ears: (K)The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men.” 45 (L)But they did not understand this saying, and (M)it was concealed from them, so that they might not perceive it. And they were afraid to ask him about this saying.
Who Is the Greatest?
46 (N)An argument arose among them as to which of them was the greatest. 47 But Jesus, knowing the reasoning of their hearts, took a child and put him by his side 48 and said to them, (O)“Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and (P)whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For (Q)he who is least among you all is the one who is great.”
Anyone Not Against Us Is For Us
49 (R)John answered, “Master, we saw someone (S)casting out demons in your name, and (T)we tried to stop him, because he does not follow with us.” 50 But Jesus said to him, “Do not stop him, (U)for the one who is not against you is for you.”
