Maori Bible

7  He Hikaiono na Rawiri, tana i waiata ai ki a Ihowa mo nga kupu a Kuhu Pineamine. E Ihowa, e toku Atua, kei a koe toku whakawhirinakitanga: kia ora ahau i te hunga katoa e aru ana i ahau, kia mawhiti atu hoki ahau:

2 Kei haehae ia i toku wairua, ano he raiona, a titaritari noa, i te mea kahore he kaiarai.

3 E Ihowa, e toku Atua, ki te mea naku tena mahi, ki te mea he hara kei oku ringa;

4 Ki te mea i whakahokia e ahau he kino ki te tangata kua mau nei ta maua rongo; i whakaora nei hoki ahau i te tangata i kino noa mai ki ahau:

5 Kia arumia toku wairua e te hoariri, a kia mau; kia takahia hoki toku ora e ia ki te whenua, kia whakatokotoria ano toku kororia ki te puehu. (Hera.

6 E Ihowa, whakatika, kia riri koe, ara ake, e nana nei hoki oku hoa whawhai: kia oho ake hoki koe moku; kua kiia e koe te whakawa.

7 Tukua kia karapotia koe e te whakaminenga o nga iwi: ma runga atu i a ratou tou hokinga atu ki runga.

8 Ko Ihowa e whakarite whakawa ana mo nga iwi; kia rite, e Ihowa, tau whakawa moku ki taku mahi tika, ki te tapatahi hoki o oku whakaaro.

9 Kia whakamutua te kino o te hunga kino: whakaukia hoki te tangata tika: e whakamatautau ana hoki te Atua tika i nga ngakau, i nga whatumanawa.

10 Kei te Atua toku whakangungu rakau, mana e whakaora te hunga ngakau tika.

11 He kaiwhakawa tika te Atua, ae ra, he Atua e riri ana i tenei ra, i tenei ra.

12 Ki te kore tetahi e tahuri, ka whakakoia e ia tana hoari; kua whakapikoa e ia tana kopere, a oti rawa te whakapai.

13 Oti rawa ano ana mea whakamate te whakapai e ia; kua meinga e ia ana pere ano he ahi.

14 Nana, he kino te mea e whakamamae nei ia; he whanoke te mea i hapu ki roto ki a ia, a whanau ake he teka.

15 I pokaia e ia he poka, he mea keri nana, taka iho ia ki roto ki te rua i mahia e ia.

16 Ka hoki tona whanoke ki tona matenga, a ka tau iho tana tukino ki tona tumuaki.

17 Ka rite ki tona tika taku whakamoemiti ki a Ihowa: ka himene atu hoki ahau ki te ingoa o Ihowa, o te Runga Rawa.

New International Version

Psalm 7[a]

A shiggaion[b](A) of David, which he sang to the Lord concerning Cush, a Benjamite.

1 Lord my God, I take refuge(B) in you;
    save and deliver me(C) from all who pursue me,(D)
2 or they will tear me apart like a lion(E)
    and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue(F) me.

3 Lord my God, if I have done this
    and there is guilt on my hands(G)—
4 if I have repaid my ally with evil
    or without cause(H) have robbed my foe—
5 then let my enemy pursue and overtake(I) me;
    let him trample my life to the ground(J)
    and make me sleep in the dust.[c](K)

6 Arise,(L) Lord, in your anger;
    rise up against the rage of my enemies.(M)
    Awake,(N) my God; decree justice.
7 Let the assembled peoples gather around you,
    while you sit enthroned over them on high.(O)
8     Let the Lord judge(P) the peoples.
Vindicate me, Lord, according to my righteousness,(Q)
    according to my integrity,(R) O Most High.(S)
9 Bring to an end the violence of the wicked
    and make the righteous secure—(T)
you, the righteous God(U)
    who probes minds and hearts.(V)

10 My shield[d](W) is God Most High,
    who saves the upright in heart.(X)
11 God is a righteous judge,(Y)
    a God who displays his wrath(Z) every day.
12 If he does not relent,(AA)
    he[e] will sharpen his sword;(AB)
    he will bend and string his bow.(AC)
13 He has prepared his deadly weapons;
    he makes ready his flaming arrows.(AD)

14 Whoever is pregnant with evil
    conceives trouble and gives birth(AE) to disillusionment.
15 Whoever digs a hole and scoops it out
    falls into the pit(AF) they have made.(AG)
16 The trouble they cause recoils on them;
    their violence comes down on their own heads.

17 I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness;(AH)
    I will sing the praises(AI) of the name of the Lord Most High.(AJ)

Prayer and Praise for Deliverance from Enemies

A (A)Meditation[a] of David, which he sang to the Lord (B)concerning the words of Cush, a Benjamite.

7 O Lord my God, in You I put my trust;
(C)Save me from all those who persecute me;
And deliver me,
2 (D)Lest they tear me like a lion,
(E)Rending me in pieces, while there is none to deliver.

3 O Lord my God, (F)if I have done this:
If there is (G)iniquity in my hands,
4 If I have repaid evil to him who was at peace with me,
Or (H)have plundered my enemy without cause,
5 Let the enemy pursue me and overtake me;
Yes, let him trample my life to the earth,
And lay my honor in the dust. Selah

6 Arise, O Lord, in Your anger;
(I)Lift Yourself up because of the rage of my enemies;
(J)Rise up [b]for me to the judgment You have commanded!
7 So the congregation of the peoples shall surround You;
For their sakes, therefore, return on high.
8 The Lord shall judge the peoples;
(K)Judge me, O Lord, (L)according to my righteousness,
And according to my integrity within me.

9 Oh, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end,
But establish the just;
(M)For the righteous God tests the hearts and [c]minds.
10 [d]My defense is of God,
Who saves the (N)upright in heart.

11 God is a just judge,
And God is angry with the wicked every day.
12 If he does not turn back,
He will (O)sharpen His sword;
He bends His bow and makes it ready.
13 He also prepares for Himself instruments of death;
He makes His arrows into fiery shafts.

14 (P)Behold, the wicked brings forth iniquity;
Yes, he conceives trouble and brings forth falsehood.
15 He made a pit and dug it out,
(Q)And has fallen into the ditch which he made.
16 (R)His trouble shall return upon his own head,
And his violent dealing shall come down on [e]his own crown.

17 I will praise the Lord according to His righteousness,
And will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.
