Save Me, O God

To the choirmaster: according to (A)Lilies. Of David.

69 Save me, O God!
    For (B)the waters have come up to my neck.[a]
I sink in deep (C)mire,
    where there is no foothold;
I have come into deep waters,
    and the flood (D)sweeps over me.
(E)I am weary with my crying out;
    (F)my throat is parched.
(G)My eyes grow dim
    with (H)waiting for my God.

(I)More in number than the hairs of my head
    are (J)those who hate me (K)without cause;
mighty are those who would destroy me,
    (L)those who attack me with lies.
What I did not steal
    must I now restore?
O God, you know my folly;
    the wrongs I have done are not hidden from you.

Let not those who hope in you (M)be put to shame through me,
    O Lord God of hosts;
let not those who seek you be brought to dishonor through me,
    O God of Israel.
For it is (N)for your sake that I have borne reproach,
    that dishonor has covered my face.
I have become (O)a stranger to my brothers,
    an alien to my mother's sons.

For (P)zeal for your house has consumed me,
    and (Q)the reproaches of those who reproach you have fallen on me.
10 When I wept and humbled[b] my soul with fasting,
    it became my reproach.
11 When I made (R)sackcloth my clothing,
    I became (S)a byword to them.
12 I am the talk of those who (T)sit in the gate,
    and the drunkards make (U)songs about me.

13 But as for me, my (V)prayer is to you, O Lord.
    At (W)an acceptable time, O God,
    in the abundance of your steadfast love answer me in your saving faithfulness.
14 Deliver me
    from sinking in (X)the mire;
(Y)let me be delivered from my enemies
    and from (Z)the deep waters.
15 Let not the flood sweep over me,
    or the deep swallow me up,
    or (AA)the pit close (AB)its mouth over me.

16 Answer me, O Lord, for your (AC)steadfast love is good;
    according to your abundant (AD)mercy, (AE)turn to me.
17 (AF)Hide not your face from your servant,
    (AG)for I am in distress; (AH)make haste to answer me.
18 Draw near to my soul, redeem me;
    ransom me because of my enemies!

Sabbath Regulations

35 Moses assembled all the congregation of the people of Israel and said to them, (A)“These are the things that the Lord has commanded you to do. (B)Six days work shall be done, but on the seventh day you shall have a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on it shall be put to death. (C)You shall kindle no fire in all your dwelling places on the Sabbath day.”

Contributions for the Tabernacle

Moses said to all the congregation of the people of Israel, “This is the thing that the Lord has commanded. (D)Take from among you a contribution to the Lord. (E)Whoever is of a generous heart, let him bring the Lord's contribution: gold, silver, and bronze; blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen; goats' hair, tanned rams' skins, and goatskins;[a] acacia wood, oil for the light, spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense, and onyx stones and stones for setting, for the ephod and for the breastpiece.

10 “Let (F)every skillful craftsman among you come and make all that the Lord has commanded: 11 (G)the tabernacle, its tent and its covering, its hooks and its frames, its bars, its pillars, and its bases; 12 (H)the ark with its poles, the mercy seat, and the (I)veil of the screen; 13 (J)the table with its poles and all its utensils, and the (K)bread of the Presence; 14 (L)the lampstand also for the light, with its utensils and its lamps, and the (M)oil for the light; 15 (N)and the altar of incense, with its poles, (O)and the anointing oil and the (P)fragrant incense, and (Q)the screen for the door, at the door of the tabernacle; 16 (R)the altar of burnt offering, with its grating of bronze, its poles, and all its utensils, the (S)basin and its stand; 17 (T)the hangings of the court, its pillars and its bases, and the screen for the gate of the court; 18 (U)the pegs of the tabernacle and the pegs of the court, and their (V)cords; 19 the (W)finely worked garments for ministering[b] in the Holy Place, the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, for their service as priests.”

20 Then all the congregation of the people of Israel departed from the presence of Moses. 21 And they came, (X)everyone whose heart stirred him, and everyone whose spirit moved him, (Y)and brought the Lord's contribution to be used for the tent of meeting, and for all its service, and for the holy garments. 22 So they came, both men and women. All who were of a willing heart brought brooches and earrings and signet rings and armlets, all sorts of gold objects, every man dedicating an offering of gold to the Lord. 23 And (Z)every one who possessed (AA)blue or purple or scarlet yarns or fine linen or goats' hair or tanned rams' skins or goatskins brought them. 24 (AB)Everyone who could make a contribution of silver or bronze brought it as the Lord's contribution. And every one who possessed acacia wood of any use in the work brought it. 25 And every (AC)skillful woman spun with her hands, and they all brought what they had spun in blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen. 26 All the women (AD)whose hearts stirred them to use their skill spun the goats' hair. 27 And the (AE)leaders brought onyx stones and stones to be set, for the ephod and for the breastpiece, 28 and spices and oil for the light, and for the anointing oil, and for the fragrant incense. 29 (AF)All the men and women, the people of Israel, whose heart moved them to bring anything for the work that the Lord had commanded by Moses to be done brought it as a freewill offering to the Lord.

Construction of the Tabernacle

30 (AG)Then Moses said to the people of Israel, “See, the Lord has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; 31 and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with (AH)skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship, 32 to devise artistic designs, to work in gold and silver and bronze, 33 in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, for work in every skilled craft. 34 And he has inspired him to teach, both him and Oholiab the son of Ahisamach of the tribe of Dan. 35 He has (AI)filled them with skill to do every sort of work done by an engraver or by a designer or by an embroiderer in blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, or by a weaver—by any sort of workman or skilled designer.

Jesus Is Mocked

27 (A)Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the (B)governor's headquarters,[a] and they gathered the whole (C)battalion[b] before him. 28 And they stripped him and put (D)a scarlet robe on him, 29 and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on his head and put a reed in his right hand. And kneeling before him, they (E)mocked him, saying, “Hail, (F)King of the Jews!” 30 And (G)they spit on him and took the reed and struck him on the head. 31 And when they had mocked him, they stripped him of the robe and put his own clothes on him and (H)led him away to crucify him.

The Crucifixion

32 (I)(J)As they went out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name. They compelled this man to (K)carry his cross. 33 (L)And when they came to a place called Golgotha (which means Place of a Skull), 34 (M)they offered him wine to drink, mixed with (N)gall, but when he tasted it, he would not drink it. 35 And when they had crucified him, (O)they divided his garments among them by casting lots. 36 Then they sat down and (P)kept watch over him there. 37 And over his head they put the charge against him, which read, “This is Jesus, (Q)the King of the Jews.” 38 Then two (R)robbers were crucified with him, (S)one on the right and one on the left. 39 And (T)those who passed by (U)derided him, (V)wagging their heads 40 and saying, (W)“You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! (X)If you are (Y)the Son of God, come down from the cross.” 41 So also the chief priests, with the scribes and elders, mocked him, saying, 42 (Z)“He saved others; (AA)he cannot save himself. (AB)He is the King of Israel; let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him. 43 (AC)He trusts in God; let God deliver him now, if he desires him. For he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’” 44 (AD)And the robbers who were crucified with him also reviled him in the same way.

The Death of Jesus

45 Now from the sixth hour[c] there was darkness over all the land[d] until the ninth hour.[e] 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus (AE)cried out with a loud voice, saying, (AF)“Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” 47 And some of the bystanders, hearing it, said, “This man is calling Elijah.” 48 And one of them at once ran and took a sponge, filled it with (AG)sour wine, and put it on a reed and (AH)gave it to him to drink. 49 But the others said, “Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to save him.” 50 And Jesus (AI)cried out again with a loud voice and (AJ)yielded up his spirit.

51 And behold, (AK)the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And (AL)the earth shook, and the rocks were split. 52 The tombs also were opened. And many bodies of (AM)the saints (AN)who had fallen asleep were raised, 53 and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into (AO)the holy city and appeared to many. 54 (AP)When the centurion and those who were with him, (AQ)keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were filled with awe and said, (AR)“Truly this was the Son[f] of God!”

55 There were also (AS)many women there, looking on (AT)from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, (AU)ministering to him, 56 among whom were (AV)Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Joseph and (AW)the mother of the sons of Zebedee.
