Psalm 25

Teach Me Your Paths

^[a] Of David.

25 To you, O Lord, I ^(A)lift up my soul.
²O my God, in you I ^(B)trust;
    ^(C)let me not be put to shame;
    ^(D)let not my enemies exult over me.
³Indeed, ^(E)none who wait for you shall be put to shame;
    they shall be ashamed who are ^(F)wantonly ^(G)treacherous.

⁴^(H)Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
    teach me your paths.
⁵Lead me in your ^(I)truth and teach me,
    for you are the God of my salvation;
    for you I wait all the day long.

⁶Remember your ^(J)mercy, O Lord, and your steadfast love,
    ^(K)for they have been from of old.
⁷Remember not ^(L)the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
    according to your ^(M)steadfast love remember me,
    for the sake of your goodness, O Lord!

⁸^(N)Good and upright is the Lord;
    therefore he ^(O)instructs sinners in the way.
⁹He leads the humble in what is right,
    and teaches the humble his way.
¹⁰All the paths of the Lord are ^(P)steadfast love and faithfulness,
    for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.

¹¹For your ^(Q)name's sake, O Lord,
    pardon my guilt, for it is ^(R)great.
¹²Who is the man who fears the Lord?
    Him ^(S)will he instruct in the way that he should choose.
¹³His soul shall ^(T)abide in well-being,
    and his ^(U)offspring ^(V)shall inherit the land.
¹⁴^(W)The friendship^[b] of the Lord is for those who fear him,
    and he makes known to them his covenant.
¹⁵My ^(X)eyes are ever toward the Lord,
    for he will ^(Y)pluck my feet out of the net.

¹⁶^(Z)Turn to me and be gracious to me,
    for I am lonely and afflicted.
¹⁷The troubles of my heart are enlarged;
    bring me out of my distresses.
¹⁸^(AA)Consider my affliction and my trouble,
    and forgive all my sins.

¹⁹Consider how many are my foes,
    and with what violent hatred they hate me.
²⁰Oh, guard my soul, and deliver me!
    ^(AB)Let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in you.
²¹May integrity and uprightness preserve me,
    for I wait for you.

²²^(AC)Redeem Israel, O God,
out of all his troubles.

¹⁰“And when the Lord your God brings you into the land that he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you—with great and good cities ^(A)that you did not build, ¹¹and houses full of all good things that you did not fill, and cisterns that you did not dig, and vineyards and olive trees that you did not plant—and when you eat and are full, ¹²^(B)then take care lest you forget the Lord, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. ¹³It is ^(C)the Lord your God you shall fear. Him you shall serve and ^(D)by his name you shall swear. ¹⁴You shall not ^(E)go after other gods, ^(F)the gods of the peoples who are around you— ¹⁵for ^(G)the Lord your God in your midst ^(H)is a jealous God—^(I)lest the anger of the Lord your God be kindled against you, and he destroy you from off the face of the earth.

Hebrews 1

The Supremacy of God's Son

1 Long ago, at many times and ^(A)in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, ²but ^(B)in these last days ^(C)he has spoken to us by ^(D)his Son, whom he appointed ^(E)the heir of all things, ^(F)through whom also he created ^(G)the world. ³He is the radiance of the glory of God and ^(H)the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. ^(I)After making purification for sins, ^(J)he sat down ^(K)at the right hand of the Majesty on high, ⁴having become as much superior to angels as the name ^(L)he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.

⁵For to which of the angels did God ever say,

^(M)“You are my Son,
today I have begotten you”?

Or again,

^(N)“I will be to him a father,
and he shall be to me a son”?

⁶And again, when he brings ^(O)the firstborn into the world, he says,

^(P)“Let all God's angels worship him.”

⁷Of the angels he says,

^(Q)“He makes his angels winds,
and his ministers a flame of fire.”

⁸But of the Son he says,

^(R)“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever,
the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.
⁹You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;
therefore God, your God, ^(S)has anointed you
with ^(T)the oil of gladness beyond your companions.”

¹⁰And,

^(U)“You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning,
    and the heavens are the work of your hands;
¹¹they will perish, but you remain;
    they will all wear out like a garment,
¹²like a robe you will roll them up,
    like a garment they will be changed.^[a]
But you are ^(V)the same,
    and your years will have no end.”

¹³And to which of the angels has he ever said,

^(W)“Sit at my right hand
^(X)until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”?

¹⁴Are they not all ministering spirits ^(Y)sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to ^(Z)inherit salvation?

The Word Became Flesh

1 ^(A)In the beginning was ^(B)the Word, and ^(C)the Word was with God, and ^(D)the Word was God. ²He was in the beginning with God. ³^(E)All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. ⁴^(F)In him was life,^[a] and ^(G)the life was the light of men. ⁵^(H)The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

⁶There was a man ^(I)sent from God, whose name was ^(J)John. ⁷He came as a ^(K)witness, to bear witness about the light, ^(L)that all might believe through him. ⁸^(M)He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.

⁹^(N)The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. ¹⁰He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet ^(O)the world did not know him. ¹¹He came to ^(P)his own,^[b] and ^(Q)his own people^[c] ^(R)did not receive him. ¹²But to all who did receive him, ^(S)who believed in his name, ^(T)he gave the right ^(U)to become ^(V)children of God, ¹³who ^(W)were born, ^(X)not of blood ^(Y)nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

¹⁴And ^(Z)the Word ^(AA)became flesh and ^(AB)dwelt among us, ^(AC)and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son^[d] from the Father, full of ^(AD)grace and ^(AE)truth. ¹⁵(^(AF)John bore witness about him, and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ^(AG)‘He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.’”) ¹⁶For from ^(AH)his fullness we have all received, ^(AI)grace upon grace.^[e] ¹⁷For ^(AJ)the law was given through Moses; ^(AK)grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. ¹⁸^(AL)No one has ever seen God; ^(AM)the only God,^[f] who is at the Father's side,^[g] ^(AN)he has made him known.
