22 ^[a]My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Why art thou so far from helping me, from the words of my groaning?
²O my God, I cry by day, but thou dost not answer;
and by night, but find no rest.

³Yet thou art holy,
    enthroned on the praises of Israel.
⁴In thee our fathers trusted;
    they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.
⁵To thee they cried, and were saved;
    in thee they trusted, and were not disappointed.
