Psalm 12:3-8

3 May Yahweh cut off all flattering lips,
The tongue that (A)speaks great things;
4 Who (B)have said, “With our tongue we will prevail;
Our lips are [a]our own; who is lord over us?”
5 “Because of the (C)devastation of the afflicted, because of the groaning of the needy,
Now (D)I will arise,” says Yahweh; “I will (E)set him in the [b]safety for which he [c]longs.”
6 The (F)words of Yahweh are pure words;
As silver (G)tried in a furnace on the ground, refined seven times.
7 You, O Yahweh, will keep them;
You will (H)guard him from this generation forever.
8 The (I)wicked strut about on every side
When [d](J)vileness is exalted among the sons of men.

8 They (A)scoff and [a]wickedly speak of oppression;
They (B)speak from on high.
9 They have (C)set their mouth [b]against the heavens,
And their tongue goes through the earth.
10 Therefore [c]his people return here, to his place,
And waters of (D)fullness are [d]drunk by them.
11 They say, “(E)How does God know?
And is there knowledge with the Most High?”
12 Behold, (F)these are the wicked;
And always (G)at ease, they have increased in wealth.
13 Surely (H)in vain I have [e]kept my heart pure
And (I)washed my hands in innocence;
14 For I have been stricken (J)all day long
And [f](K)reproved every morning.
15 If I had said, “I will recount thus,”
Behold, I would have betrayed the (L)generation of Your children.
16 When I (M)gave thought to know this,
It was trouble in my sight
17 Until I came into the [g](N)sanctuary of God;
Then I understood their (O)end.
18 Surely You set them in (P)slippery places;
You cause them to fall to [h](Q)destruction.
19 How they become (R)desolate in a moment!
They are completely swept away by (S)terrors!
20 Like a (T)dream when one awakes,
O Lord, when (U)aroused, You will (V)despise their [i]form.
21 When my (W)heart was embittered
And I was (X)pierced [j]within,
22 Then I was (Y)senseless and ignorant;
I was like [k]an (Z)animal [l]before You.
23 Nevertheless (AA)I am continually with You;
You have taken hold of my right hand.
24 With Your counsel You will (AB)lead me,
And afterward (AC)take me [m]in glory.
25 (AD)Whom have I in heaven but You?
And [n]besides You, I desire nothing on earth.
26 My (AE)flesh and my heart fail,
But God is the rock of my heart and my (AF)portion forever.
27 For, behold, (AG)those who are far from You will (AH)perish;
You have [o]destroyed everyone who [p](AI)is unfaithful to You.
28 But as for me, (AJ)the nearness of God is my good;
I have set Lord Yahweh as my (AK)refuge,
That I may (AL)recount all Your works.
