²⁷ The Lord is God,^(A)
    and he has made his light shine^(B) on us.
With boughs in hand,^(C) join in the festal procession
    up^[a] to the horns of the altar.^(D)

² The people walking in darkness^(A)
    have seen a great light;^(B)
on those living in the land of deep darkness^(C)
    a light has dawned.^(D)

⁸ “You heavens above, rain^(A) down my righteousness;^(B)
    let the clouds shower it down.
Let the earth open wide,
    let salvation^(C) spring up,
let righteousness flourish with it;
    I, the Lord, have created it.

⁷⁸ because of the tender mercy of our God,
    by which the rising sun^(A) will come to us from heaven

“Wake up, sleeper,^(A)
    rise from the dead,^(B)
    and Christ will shine on you.”^(C)
