I Love the Lord

116 I ^(A)love the Lord, because he has ^(B)heard
    my voice and my pleas for mercy.
²Because he ^(C)inclined his ear to me,
    therefore I will call on him as long as I live.
³^(D)The snares of death encompassed me;
    the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me;
    I suffered distress and anguish.
⁴Then ^(E)I called on the name of the Lord:
    “O Lord, I pray, deliver my soul!”

¹²What shall I ^(A)render to the Lord
    for all his benefits to me?
¹³I will lift up ^(B)the cup of salvation
    and ^(C)call on the name of the Lord,
¹⁴I will ^(D)pay my vows to the Lord
    in the presence of all his people.

¹⁵^(E)Precious in the sight of the Lord
    is the death of his ^(F)saints.
¹⁶O Lord, I am your ^(G)servant;
    I am your servant, ^(H)the son of your maidservant.
    You have ^(I)loosed my bonds.
¹⁷I will ^(J)offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving
    and ^(K)call on the name of the Lord.
¹⁸I will ^(L)pay my vows to the Lord
    in the presence of all his people,
¹⁹in ^(M)the courts of the house of the Lord,
    in your midst, O Jerusalem.

    a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine,

    the covering that is cast over all peoples,
    ^(D)the veil that is spread over all nations.
⁸    ^(E)He will swallow up death forever;
and ^(F)the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces,
    and ^(G)the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth,

⁹It will be said on that day,
    “Behold, this is our God; ^(I)we have waited for him, that he might save us.
    This is the Lord; we have waited for him;

¹²He said also to the man who had invited him, “When you give ^(A)a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers^[a] or your relatives or rich neighbors, ^(B)lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid. ¹³But when you give a feast, ^(C)invite ^(D)the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, ¹⁴and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid ^(E)at ^(F)the resurrection of the just.”
