⁴⁴ “If your people go out to battle against their enemy, by whatever way you shall send them, and they pray to the Lord ^(A)toward the city that you have chosen and the house that I have built for your name, ⁴⁵ then hear in heaven their prayer and their plea, and maintain their cause.

^16 (A)He built twenty cubits of the rear of the house with boards of cedar from the floor to the walls, and he built this within as an inner sanctuary, as ^(B)the Most Holy Place.

⁸ And they have lived in it and have built for you in it a sanctuary for your name, saying, ^9 (A)‘If disaster comes upon us, the sword, judgment,^[a] or pestilence, or famine, ^(B)we will stand before this house and before you—^(C)for your name is in this house—and cry out to you in our affliction, and you will hear and save.’

¹⁷ And they brought in the ark of the Lord and set it ^(A)in its place, inside the tent that David had pitched for it. ^(B)And David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord.
