^25 (A)Of old you laid the foundation of the earth,
    and ^(B)the heavens are the work of your hands.
^26 (C)They will perish, but ^(D)you will remain;
    they will all wear out like a garment.
You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away,
²⁷     but ^(E)you are the same, and your years have no end.
^28 (F)The children of your servants ^(G)shall dwell secure;
    ^(H)their offspring shall be established before you.

⁴ “Where were you when I ^(A)laid the foundation of the earth?
    Tell me, if you have understanding.
⁵ Who determined its measurements—surely you know!
    Or who stretched the line upon it?
⁶ On what were its bases sunk,
    or who laid its cornerstone,
⁷ when the morning stars ^(B)sang together
    and all ^(C)the sons of God ^(D)shouted for joy?

⁸ “Or who ^(E)shut in the sea with doors
    when it burst out from the womb,
⁹ when I made clouds its garment
    and ^(F)thick darkness its swaddling band,
¹⁰ and prescribed ^(G)limits for it
    and set bars and doors,
¹¹ and said, ‘Thus far shall you come, and no farther,
    and here shall your ^(H)proud waves be stayed’?

^7 (A)“Are you the first man who was born?
    Or ^(B)were you brought forth ^(C)before the hills?
⁸ Have you listened in ^(D)the council of God?
    And do you limit wisdom to yourself?

^(A)“You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning,
    and the heavens are the work of your hands;
