2 L'Eterno parlò ancora a Mosè e ad Aaronne, dicendo:
2 «I figli d'Israele si accamperanno ciascuno vicino alla sua bandiera sotto le insegne della casa dei loro padri; si accamperanno tutt'intorno alla tenda di convegno, ma ad una certa distanza.
3 Sul lato est, verso il sol levante, si accamperà la bandiera del campo di Giuda secondo le loro schiere; e il principe dei figli di Giuda è Nahshon, figlio di Amminadab;
4 quelli recensiti della sua divisione erano settantaquattromila seicento.
5 Accanto a lui si accamperà la tribú di Issacar; il principe dei figli di Issacar è Nethaneel, figlio di Tsuar;
6 quelli recensiti della sua divisione erano cinquantaquattromila quattrocento.
7 Poi verrà la tribù di Zabulon; il principe dei figli di Zabulon è Eliab, figlio di Helon;
8 quelli recensiti della sua divisione erano cinquantasettemilaquattrocento.
9 Tutti quelli recensiti del campo di Giuda, secondo le loro divisioni, erano centottantaseimilaquattrocento. Essi si metteranno in marcia per primi.
10 Sul lato sud starà la bandiera del campo di Ruben secondo le sue schiere; e il principe dei figli di Ruben è Elitsur, figlio di Scedeur;
11 quelli recensiti della sua divisione erano quarantaseimilacinquecento.
12 Accanto a lui si accamperà la tribù di Simeone; e il principe dei figli di Simeone è Scelumiel, figlio di Tsurishaddai;
13 quelli recensiti della sua divisione erano cinquantanovemilatrecento.
14 Poi verrà la tribù di Gad; il principe dei figli di Gad è Eliasaf, figlio di Reuel,
15 quelli recensiti della sua divisione erano quarantacinquemila seicentocinquanta.
16 Tutti quelli recensiti del campo di Ruben, secondo le loro divisioni, erano centocinquantunomila quattrocentocinquanta. Essi si metteranno in marcia per secondi.
17 Poi si metterà in marcia la tenda di convegno col campo dei Leviti in mezzo agli altri campi. Si metteranno in marcia nello stesso ordine con cui erano accampati, ciascuno al suo posto, accanto alla sua bandiera.
18 Sul lato ovest starà la bandiera del campo di Efraim secondo le sue schiere; il principe dei figli di Efraim è Elishama, figlio di Ammihud;
19 quelli recensiti della sua divisione erano quarantamilacinquecento.
20 Accanto a lui si accamperà la tribú di Manasse; il principe dei figli di Manasse è Gamaliel, figlio di Pedahtsur;
21 quelli recensiti della sua divisione erano trentaduemiladuecento.
22 Poi verrà la tribù di Beniamino; il principe dei figli di Beniamino è Abidan, figlio di Ghideoni;
23 quelli recensiti della sua divisione erano trentacinquemilaquattrocento.
24 Tutti quelli recensiti del campo di Efraim, secondo le loro divisioni, erano centottomilacento. Essi si metteranno in marcia per terzi.
25 Sul lato nord starà la bandiera del campo di Dan secondo le sue schiere; il principe dei figli di Dan è Ahiezer, figlio di Ammishaddai;
26 quelli recensiti della sua divisione erano sessantaduemilasettecento.
27 Accanto a lui si accamperà la tribù di Ascer; il principe dei figli di Ascer è Paghiel, figlio di Okran;
28 quelli recensiti della sua divisione erano quarantunomilacinquecento.
29 Poi verrà la tribù di Neftali; il principe dei figli di Neftali Ahira, figlio di Enan;
30 quelli recensiti della sua divisione erano cinquantatremilaquattrocento.
31 Tutti quelli recensiti della divisione Dan, erano centocinquantasettemila seicento. Essi si metteranno in marcia per ultimi, accanto alle loro bandiere.
32 Questi sono i figli d'Israele che furono recensiti in base alle case dei loro padri. Tutti quelli recensiti dei vari campi secondo le loro divisioni furono seicentotremila cinquecento cinquanta.
33 Ma i Leviti non furono recensiti tra i figli d'Israele, perché così l'Eterno aveva ordinato a Mosè.
34 I figli d'Israele si conformarono a tutto ciò che l'Eterno aveva ordinato a Mosè: così si accampavano accanto alle loro bandiere e così si mettevano in marcia, ciascuno secondo la sua famiglia e secondo la casa dei suoi padri.

The Arrangement of the Tribal Camps
2 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron: 2 “The Israelites are to camp around the tent of meeting some distance from it, each of them under their standard(A) and holding the banners of their family.”
3 On the east, toward the sunrise, the divisions of the camp of Judah are to encamp under their standard. The leader of the people of Judah is Nahshon son of Amminadab.(B) 4 His division numbers 74,600.
5 The tribe of Issachar(C) will camp next to them. The leader of the people of Issachar is Nethanel son of Zuar.(D) 6 His division numbers 54,400.
7 The tribe of Zebulun will be next. The leader of the people of Zebulun is Eliab son of Helon.(E) 8 His division numbers 57,400.
9 All the men assigned to the camp of Judah, according to their divisions, number 186,400. They will set out first.(F)
10 On the south(G) will be the divisions of the camp of Reuben under their standard. The leader of the people of Reuben is Elizur son of Shedeur.(H) 11 His division numbers 46,500.
12 The tribe of Simeon(I) will camp next to them. The leader of the people of Simeon is Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai.(J) 13 His division numbers 59,300.
14 The tribe of Gad(K) will be next. The leader of the people of Gad is Eliasaph son of Deuel.[a](L) 15 His division numbers 45,650.
16 All the men assigned to the camp of Reuben,(M) according to their divisions, number 151,450. They will set out second.
17 Then the tent of meeting and the camp of the Levites(N) will set out in the middle of the camps. They will set out in the same order as they encamp, each in their own place under their standard.
18 On the west(O) will be the divisions of the camp of Ephraim(P) under their standard. The leader of the people of Ephraim is Elishama son of Ammihud.(Q) 19 His division numbers 40,500.
20 The tribe of Manasseh(R) will be next to them. The leader of the people of Manasseh is Gamaliel son of Pedahzur.(S) 21 His division numbers 32,200.
22 The tribe of Benjamin(T) will be next. The leader of the people of Benjamin is Abidan son of Gideoni.(U) 23 His division numbers 35,400.
24 All the men assigned to the camp of Ephraim,(V) according to their divisions, number 108,100. They will set out third.(W)
25 On the north(X) will be the divisions of the camp of Dan under their standard.(Y) The leader of the people of Dan is Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai.(Z) 26 His division numbers 62,700.
27 The tribe of Asher will camp next to them. The leader of the people of Asher is Pagiel son of Okran.(AA) 28 His division numbers 41,500.
29 The tribe of Naphtali(AB) will be next. The leader of the people of Naphtali is Ahira son of Enan.(AC) 30 His division numbers 53,400.
31 All the men assigned to the camp of Dan number 157,600. They will set out last,(AD) under their standards.
32 These are the Israelites, counted according to their families.(AE) All the men in the camps, by their divisions, number 603,550.(AF) 33 The Levites, however, were not counted(AG) along with the other Israelites, as the Lord commanded Moses.
34 So the Israelites did everything the Lord commanded Moses; that is the way they encamped under their standards, and that is the way they set out, each of them with their clan and family.

2 And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying: 2 (A)“Everyone of the children of Israel shall camp by his own [a]standard, beside the emblems of his father’s house; they shall camp (B)some distance from the tabernacle of meeting. 3 On the (C)east side, toward the rising of the sun, those of the standard of the forces with Judah shall camp according to their armies; and (D)Nahshon the son of Amminadab shall be the leader of the children of Judah.” 4 And his army was numbered at seventy-four thousand six hundred.
5 “Those who camp next to him shall be the tribe of Issachar, and Nethanel the son of Zuar shall be the leader of the children of Issachar.” 6 And his army was numbered at fifty-four thousand four hundred.
7 “Then comes the tribe of Zebulun, and Eliab the son of Helon shall be the leader of the children of Zebulun.” 8 And his army was numbered at fifty-seven thousand four hundred. 9 “All who were numbered according to their armies of the forces with Judah, one hundred and eighty-six thousand four hundred—(E)these shall [b]break camp first.
10 “On the (F)south side shall be the standard of the forces with Reuben according to their armies, and the leader of the children of Reuben shall be Elizur the son of Shedeur.” 11 And his army was numbered at forty-six thousand five hundred.
12 “Those who camp next to him shall be the tribe of Simeon, and the leader of the children of Simeon shall be Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.” 13 And his army was numbered at fifty-nine thousand three hundred.
14 “Then comes the tribe of Gad, and the leader of the children of Gad shall be Eliasaph the son of [c]Reuel.” 15 And his army was numbered at forty-five thousand six hundred and fifty. 16 “All who were numbered according to their armies of the forces with Reuben, one hundred and fifty-one thousand four hundred and fifty—(G)they shall [d]be the second to break camp.
17 (H)“And the tabernacle of meeting shall move out with the [e]camp of the Levites (I)in the middle of the [f]camps; as they camp, so they shall move out, everyone in his place, by their [g]standards.
18 “On the west side shall be the standard of the forces with Ephraim according to their armies, and the leader of the children of Ephraim shall be Elishama the son of Ammihud.” 19 And his army was numbered at forty thousand five hundred.
20 “Next to him comes the tribe of Manasseh, and the leader of the children of Manasseh shall be Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.” 21 And his army was numbered at thirty-two thousand two hundred.
22 “Then comes the tribe of Benjamin, and the leader of the children of Benjamin shall be Abidan the son of Gideoni.” 23 And his army was numbered at thirty-five thousand four hundred. 24 “All who were numbered according to their armies of the forces with Ephraim, one hundred and eight thousand one hundred—(J)they shall [h]be the third to break camp.
25 “The [i]standard of the forces with Dan shall be on the north side according to their armies, and the leader of the children of Dan shall be Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.” 26 And his army was numbered at sixty-two thousand seven hundred.
27 “Those who camp next to him shall be the tribe of Asher, and the leader of the children of Asher shall be Pagiel the son of Ocran.” 28 And his army was numbered at forty-one thousand five hundred.
29 “Then comes the tribe of Naphtali, and the leader of the children of Naphtali shall be Ahira the son of Enan.” 30 And his army was numbered at fifty-three thousand four hundred. 31 “All who were numbered of the forces with Dan, one hundred and fifty-seven thousand six hundred—(K)they shall [j]break camp last, with their [k]standards.”
32 These are the ones who were numbered of the children of Israel by their fathers’ houses. (L)All who were numbered according to their armies of the forces were six hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty. 33 But (M)the Levites were not numbered among the children of Israel, just as the Lord commanded Moses.
34 Thus the children of Israel (N)did according to all that the Lord commanded Moses; (O)so they camped by their [l]standards and so they broke camp, each one by his family, according to their fathers’ houses.

Arrangement of the Camp

They shall camp facing the tent of meeting on every side. 3 Those to camp on the east side toward the sunrise shall be of the standard of the camp of Judah by their companies, the chief of the people of Judah being (B)Nahshon the son of Amminadab, 4 his company as listed being 74,600. 5 Those to camp next to him shall be the tribe of Issachar, the chief of the people of Issachar being Nethanel the son of Zuar, 6 his company as listed being 54,400. 7 Then the tribe of Zebulun, the chief of the people of Zebulun being Eliab the son of Helon, 8 his company as listed being 57,400. 9 All those listed of the camp of Judah, by their companies, were 186,400. (C)They shall set out first on the march.
10 “On the south side shall be the standard of the camp of Reuben by their companies, the chief of the people of Reuben being Elizur the son of Shedeur, 11 his company as listed being 46,500. 12 And those to camp next to him shall be the tribe of Simeon, the chief of the people of Simeon being Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai, 13 his company as listed being 59,300. 14 Then the tribe of Gad, the chief of the people of Gad being Eliasaph the son of (D)Reuel, 15 his company as listed being 45,650. 16 All those listed of the camp of Reuben, by their companies, were 151,450. (E)They shall set out second.
17 (F)“Then the tent of meeting shall set out, with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camps; as they camp, so shall they set out, each in position, standard by standard.
18 “On the west side shall be the standard of the camp of Ephraim by their companies, the chief of the people of Ephraim being Elishama the son of Ammihud, 19 his company as listed being 40,500. 20 And next to him shall be the tribe of Manasseh, the chief of the people of Manasseh being Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur, 21 his company as listed being 32,200. 22 Then the tribe of Benjamin, the chief of the people of Benjamin being Abidan the son of Gideoni, 23 his company as listed being 35,400. 24 All those listed of the camp of Ephraim, by their companies, were 108,100. (G)They shall set out third on the march.

32 These are the people of Israel as listed by their fathers' houses. All those listed in the camps by their companies were (I)603,550. 33 But (J)the Levites were not listed among the people of Israel, as the Lord commanded Moses.
34 Thus did the people of Israel. According to all that the Lord commanded Moses, (K)so they camped by their standards, and so they set out, each one in his clan, according to his fathers' house.
