Rules for the Nazirites
6 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Tell the Lord ·Israelites [L sons/T children of Israel]: ‘If men or women want to ·promise [make a special vow] to ·belong to the Lord in a special way [separate themselves to the Lord], they will be called Nazirites [C people especially set apart in devotion to God; Samson and Samuel are examples]. 3 During this time, they must not drink wine or ·beer [T strong drink; C an alcoholic beverage made from grain], or vinegar made from wine or ·beer [T strong drink]. They must not even drink grape juice or eat grapes or raisins.

6 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When either a man or woman [a]consecrates an offering to take the vow of a Nazirite, (A)to separate himself to the Lord, 3 (B)he shall separate himself from wine and similar drink; he shall drink neither vinegar made from wine nor vinegar made from similar drink; neither shall he drink any grape juice, nor eat fresh grapes or raisins.

The Nazirite Vow
