³³ And your children ^(A)shall be shepherds in the wilderness ^(B)forty years and shall ^(C)suffer for your faithlessness, until the last of your dead bodies lies in the wilderness.

^3 (A)In the fortieth year, on the first day of the eleventh month, Moses spoke to the people of Israel according to all that the Lord had given him in commandment to them,

⁷ For the Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. ^(A)He knows your going through this great wilderness. ^(B)These forty years the Lord your God has been with you. You have lacked nothing.”’

¹⁴ And the time from our leaving ^(A)Kadesh-barnea until we crossed ^(B)the brook Zered was thirty-eight years, ^(C)until the entire generation, that is, the men of war, had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

^4 (A)Your clothing did not wear out on you and your foot did not swell these forty years.
