De grenzen van Kanaän
34 1,2 De Here droeg Mozes op het volgende aan de Israëlieten door te geven: ‘Als u in het land Kanaän komt, het thuisland dat Ik u in bezit heb gegeven, 3 zal het zuidelijk deel van het land de woestijn Sin zijn, langs de rand van Edom. De zuidgrens begint in het oosten bij de Dode Zee, buigt daar af naar het zuiden 4 via de Schorpioenenpas naar de woestijn Sin. Het meest zuidelijke punt is Kades-Barnea en vandaar loopt de grens verder naar Chazar-Addar en Asmon. 5 Vanaf Asmon volgt de grens de beek van Egypte om ten slotte bij de Middellandse Zee te eindigen. 6 Uw westgrens wordt gevormd door de kustlijn van de Middellandse Zee. 7-9 Uw noordgrens begint bij de kust van de Middellandse Zee en loopt dan naar het oosten tot de berg Hor, daarna naar Hamat en verder via Sedad en Zifron naar Chasar-Enan. 10,11 De oostgrens loopt van Chasar-Enan naar het zuidelijk gelegen Sefam en vandaar verder naar Haribla, dat ten oosten van Aïn ligt. Daar maakt de grens een grote halve cirkel, eerst in zuidelijke en later in westelijke richting, tot hij het zuidelijke punt van het meer van Galilea raakt. 12 Daarna volgt hij de Jordaan tot aan de Dode Zee.’
13 ‘Dit is het land dat u met behulp van het lot onder elkaar moet verdelen,’ zei Mozes. ‘Het moet onder negen en een halve stam worden verdeeld, 14 want de stammen Gad, Ruben en de tak van Manasse hebben al land toegewezen gekregen 15 aan de oostzijde van de Jordaan, tegenover Jericho.’
16-28 En de Here zei tegen Mozes: ‘Dit zijn de namen van de mannen die Ik heb uitgekozen om de verdeling van het land te regelen: de priester Eleazar, Jozua, de zoon van Nun, en één leider van elke stam. Die laatsten zijn: voor de stam van Juda: Kaleb, de zoon van Jefunne; Simeon: Semuël, de zoon van Ammihud; Benjamin: Elidad, de zoon van Kislon; Dan: Bukki, de zoon van Jogli; Manasse: Channiël, de zoon van Efod; Efraïm: Kemuël, de zoon van Siftan; Zebulon: Elisafan, de zoon van Parnach; Issachar: Paltiël, de zoon van Azzan; Aser: Achihud, de zoon van Selomi; Naftali: Pedaël, de zoon van Ammihud.
29 Dit zijn de namen van de mannen die Ik heb uitgekozen als opzichters over de verdeling van het land tussen de stammen.’

Fronteras de Canaán
34 El Señor dijo a Moisés: 2 «Hazles saber a los israelitas que las fronteras de Canaán, la tierra que van a recibir en heredad, serán las siguientes:
3 »La frontera sur empezará en el desierto de Zin, en los límites con Edom. Por el este, la frontera sur estará donde termina el mar Muerto. 4 A partir de allí, la línea fronteriza avanzará hacia el sur, hacia la cuesta de los Escorpiones, cruzará Zin hasta alcanzar Cades Barnea, y llegará hasta Jazar Adar y Asmón. 5 De allí la frontera se volverá hacia el torrente de Egipto, para terminar en el mar Mediterráneo.
6 La frontera occidental del país será la costa del mar Mediterráneo.
7 Para la frontera norte, la línea fronteriza correrá desde el mar Mediterráneo hasta el monte Hor, 8 y desde el monte Hor hasta Lebó Jamat.[a] De allí, esta línea seguirá hasta llegar a Zedad, 9 para continuar hasta Zifrón y terminar en Jazar Enán. Esta será la frontera norte del país.
10 Para la frontera oriental, la línea fronteriza correrá desde Jazar Enán hasta Sefán. 11 De Sefán bajará a Riblá, que está al este de Ayin; de allí descenderá al este, hasta encontrarse con la ribera del lago Quinéret,[b] 12 y de allí la línea bajará por el río Jordán, hasta el mar Muerto.
»Esas serán las cuatro fronteras del país».
13 Moisés dio a los israelitas la siguiente orden: «Esta es la tierra que se repartirá por sorteo. El Señor ha ordenado que sea repartida solo entre las nueve tribus y media, 14 pues las familias patriarcales de las tribus de Rubén, Gad y la media tribu de Manasés ya recibieron su heredad. 15 Estas dos tribus y media ya tienen su heredad en el este, cerca del río Jordán, a la altura de Jericó, por donde sale el sol».
Repartición de la tierra
16 El Señor dijo a Moisés: 17 «Estos son los nombres de los encargados de repartir la tierra como heredad: el sacerdote Eleazar y Josué, hijo de Nun. 18 Ustedes, por su parte, tomarán a un jefe de cada tribu para que les ayuden a repartir la tierra.
19 »Los nombres de los jefes de tribu fueron los siguientes:
»Caleb, hijo de Jefone, de la tribu de Judá;
20 Samuel, hijo de Amiud, de la tribu de Simeón;
21 Elidad, hijo de Quislón, de la tribu de Benjamín;
22 Buquí, hijo de Joglí, jefe de la tribu de Dan;
23 Janiel, hijo de Efod, jefe de la tribu de Manasés hijo de José;
24 Quemuel, hijo de Siftán, jefe de la tribu de Efraín, hijo de José;
25 Elizafán, hijo de Parnac, jefe de la tribu de Zabulón;
26 Paltiel, hijo de Azán, jefe de la tribu de Isacar;
27 Ajiud, hijo de Selomí, jefe de la tribu de Aser;
28 Pedael, hijo de Amiud, jefe de la tribu de Neftalí».
29 A estos encargó el Señor repartir la heredad entre los israelitas, en la tierra de Canaán.

Límites del país
34 El Señor se dirigió a Moisés y le dijo:
2 «Da las siguientes instrucciones a los israelitas: Pronto van a entrar ustedes en el país de Canaán. Éste es el país que será propiedad de ustedes, y éstos serán sus límites:
3 »La frontera sur limitará con el desierto de Sin y el territorio de Edom. Partiendo del este, la frontera comenzará en el extremo sur del Mar Muerto, 4 seguirá hacia el sur hasta la cuesta de Acrabim, pasará por Sin y llegará hasta Cadés-barnea. Luego seguirá por Hasar-adar hasta Asmón, 5 y de Asmón seguirá hasta el arroyo que limita con Egipto, y terminará en el mar Mediterráneo.
6 »La frontera oeste limitará con la costa del mar Mediterráneo.
7 »Para la frontera norte, tracen una línea desde el mar Mediterráneo hasta el monte Hor, 8 y desde el monte Hor hasta la entrada de Hamat, y luego hasta Sedad. 9 Desde Sedad, esta frontera norte seguirá hasta Zifrón y terminará en Hasar-enán.
10 »Para la frontera oriental, tracen una línea desde Hasar-enán hasta Sefam, 11 y de Sefam a Riblá, al oriente de Ain; de allí la frontera bajará por el lado oriental del lago Quinéret, 12 y seguirá por el río Jordán hasta terminar en el Mar Muerto.
»Estas fronteras serán los límites del país de ustedes.»
Repartición de la tierra
13 Moisés dio las siguientes instrucciones a los israelitas:
«Éste es el país que ustedes se van a repartir por suertes; es el país que el Señor ha ordenado que se dé a las nueve tribus y media que quedan, 14-15 puesto que dos tribus y media, es decir, las tribus de Rubén y de Gad y la media tribu de Manasés, ya recibieron por familias el territorio que les pertenecía, al oriente del Jordán, frente a Jericó.»
16 El Señor se dirigió a Moisés y le dijo:
17 «Los que van a repartir la tierra entre ustedes son el sacerdote Eleazar y Josué, hijo de Nun. 18 Pero llamen además a un jefe por cada tribu, para repartir la tierra. 19 Los hombres a quienes deben llamar son los siguientes:
»Por la tribu de Judá: Caleb, hijo de Jefuné.
20 »Por la de Simeón: Samuel, hijo de Amihud.
21 »Por la de Benjamín: Elidad, hijo de Quislón.
22 »Por la de Dan: el jefe Buquí, hijo de Joglí.
23 »Por las tribus de los hijos de José: el jefe Haniel, hijo de Efod, por la de Manasés; 24 y el jefe Quemuel, hijo de Siftán, por la de Efraín.
25 »Por la tribu de Zabulón: el jefe Elisafán, hijo de Parnac.
26 »Por la de Isacar: el jefe Paltiel, hijo de Azán.
27 »Por la de Aser: el jefe Ahihud, hijo de Selomí.
28 »Por la de Neftalí: el jefe Pedahel, hijo de Amihud.»
29 A éstos encargó el Señor repartir el país de Canaán entre los israelitas.

34 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Command the Israelites and say to them: ‘When you enter Canaan,(A) the land that will be allotted to you as an inheritance(B) is to have these boundaries:(C)
3 “‘Your southern side will include some of the Desert of Zin(D) along the border of Edom. Your southern boundary will start in the east from the southern end of the Dead Sea,(E) 4 cross south of Scorpion Pass,(F) continue on to Zin and go south of Kadesh Barnea.(G) Then it will go to Hazar Addar and over to Azmon,(H) 5 where it will turn, join the Wadi of Egypt(I) and end at the Mediterranean Sea.
6 “‘Your western boundary will be the coast of the Mediterranean Sea.(J) This will be your boundary on the west.(K)
7 “‘For your northern boundary,(L) run a line from the Mediterranean Sea to Mount Hor(M) 8 and from Mount Hor to Lebo Hamath.(N) Then the boundary will go to Zedad, 9 continue to Ziphron and end at Hazar Enan. This will be your boundary on the north.
10 “‘For your eastern boundary,(O) run a line from Hazar Enan to Shepham. 11 The boundary will go down from Shepham to Riblah(P) on the east side of Ain(Q) and continue along the slopes east of the Sea of Galilee.[a](R) 12 Then the boundary will go down along the Jordan and end at the Dead Sea.
“‘This will be your land, with its boundaries on every side.’”
13 Moses commanded the Israelites: “Assign this land by lot(S) as an inheritance.(T) The Lord has ordered that it be given to the nine and a half tribes, 14 because the families of the tribe of Reuben, the tribe of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance.(U) 15 These two and a half tribes have received their inheritance east of the Jordan across from Jericho, toward the sunrise.”
16 The Lord said to Moses, 17 “These are the names of the men who are to assign the land for you as an inheritance: Eleazar the priest and Joshua(V) son of Nun. 18 And appoint one leader from each tribe to help(W) assign the land.(X) 19 These are their names:(Y)
Caleb(Z) son of Jephunneh,
from the tribe of Judah;(AA)
20 Shemuel son of Ammihud,
from the tribe of Simeon;(AB)
21 Elidad son of Kislon,
from the tribe of Benjamin;(AC)
22 Bukki son of Jogli,
the leader from the tribe of Dan;
23 Hanniel son of Ephod,
the leader from the tribe of Manasseh(AD) son of Joseph;
24 Kemuel son of Shiphtan,
the leader from the tribe of Ephraim(AE) son of Joseph;
25 Elizaphan son of Parnak,
the leader from the tribe of Zebulun;(AF)
26 Paltiel son of Azzan,
the leader from the tribe of Issachar;
27 Ahihud son of Shelomi,
the leader from the tribe of Asher;(AG)
28 Pedahel son of Ammihud,
the leader from the tribe of Naphtali.”
29 These are the men the Lord commanded to assign the inheritance to the Israelites in the land of Canaan.(AH)
