¹⁶ So Moses numbered them according to the ^[a]word of the Lord, as he was commanded.

³⁷ These were the ones who were numbered of the families of the Kohathites, all who might serve in the tabernacle of meeting, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the commandment of the Lord by the hand of Moses.

^39 (A)All who were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron numbered at the commandment of the Lord, by their families, all the males from a month old and above, were twenty-two thousand.

⁵ Then the priests, the sons of Levi, shall come near, for ^(A)the Lord your God has chosen them to minister to Him and to bless in the name of the Lord; ^(B)by their word every controversy and every ^[a]assault shall be settled.

⁴⁹ According to the commandment of the Lord they were numbered by the hand of Moses, ^(A)each according to his service and according to his task; thus were they numbered by him, ^(B)as the Lord commanded Moses.

⁴⁵ These are the ones who were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, whom Moses and Aaron numbered ^(A)according to the word of the Lord by the hand of Moses.

^41 (A)These are the ones who were numbered of the families of the sons of Gershon, of all who might serve in the tabernacle of meeting, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the commandment of the Lord.

²⁷ “Aaron and his sons shall ^[a]assign all the service of the sons of the Gershonites, all their tasks and all their service. And you shall ^[b]appoint to them all their tasks as their duty.

⁵¹ And Moses ^(A)gave their redemption money to Aaron and his sons, according to the word of the Lord, as the Lord commanded Moses.

²¹ Then the sons of Israel did so; and Joseph gave them ^(A)carts,^[a] according to the command of Pharaoh, and he gave them provisions for the journey.
