⁴¹ And in the morning Balak took Balaam and brought him up to Bamoth-baal, and from there he saw a fraction of the people.

Balaam's Second Oracle

¹³ And Balak said to him, “Please come with me to another place, from which you may see them. You shall see only a fraction of them and shall not see them all. Then curse them for me from there.”

³⁵ And I will bring to an end in Moab, declares the Lord, him who offers sacrifice in ^(A)the high place and makes offerings to his god.

¹⁵ and he appointed his own ^(A)priests for the high places and for the goat idols and for ^(B)the calves that he had made.

^2 (A)You shall surely destroy all the places where the nations whom you shall dispossess served their gods, ^(B)on the high mountains and on the hills and under every green tree.

^2 (A)These invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and bowed down to their gods. ³ So Israel yoked himself to Baal of Peor. And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel.
