Nehemiah's Prayer
4 As soon as I heard these words I (A)sat down and wept and mourned for days, and I continued fasting and praying before the (B)God of heaven. 5 And I said, “O Lord God of heaven, (C)the great and awesome God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, 6 (D)let your ear be attentive and your eyes open, to hear the prayer of your servant that I now pray before you day and night for the people of Israel your servants, (E)confessing the sins of the people of Israel, which we have sinned against you. Even (F)I and my father's house have sinned.

4 When I heard these things, I sat down and wept.(A) For some days I mourned and fasted(B) and prayed before the God of heaven. 5 Then I said:
“Lord, the God of heaven, the great and awesome God,(C) who keeps his covenant of love(D) with those who love him and keep his commandments, 6 let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear(E) the prayer(F) your servant is praying before you day and night for your servants, the people of Israel. I confess(G) the sins we Israelites, including myself and my father’s family, have committed against you.

5 And said, I beseech thee, O Lord God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments:
6 Let thine ear now be attentive, and thine eyes open, that thou mayest hear the prayer of thy servant, which I pray before thee now, day and night, for the children of Israel thy servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against thee: both I and my father's house have sinned.

11 O Lord, (A)let your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant, and to the prayer of your servants who delight to fear your name, and give success to your servant today, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man.”
