4 – Hoor toch God, hoe we uitgelachen worden! Straf hen daarvoor! Zorg dat zij zelf gevangen meegenomen worden naar een ander land! 5 Heer, vergeef hun niet wat ze ons aandoen. Want door de mensen te beledigen die de muur herbouwen, beledigen ze U!
6 Maar wij bouwden verder aan de muur, totdat de hele muur tot op halve hoogte hersteld was. Want de mensen werkten hard door, omdat ze er zin in hadden.

4 Hear us, our God, for we are despised.(A) Turn their insults back on their own heads. Give them over as plunder in a land of captivity. 5 Do not cover up their guilt(B) or blot out their sins from your sight,(C) for they have thrown insults in the face of[a] the builders.
6 So we rebuilt the wall till all of it reached half its height, for the people worked with all their heart.

6 So we built the wall, and the entire wall was joined together up to half its height, for the people had a mind to work.
