⁸ And ^(A)the remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations,
    in the midst of many peoples,
like a lion among the beasts of the forest,
    like a young lion among the flocks of sheep,
^(B)which, when it goes through, treads down
    and tears in pieces, and there is none to deliver.

⁵ They shall be like mighty men in battle,
    ^(A)trampling the foe in the mud of the streets;
they shall fight because the Lord is with them,
    and they shall put to shame ^(B)the riders on horses.

¹³ Arise and thresh,
    O daughter of Zion,
for I will make your horn iron,
    and I will make your hoofs bronze;
you shall beat in pieces many peoples;
    and ^(A)shall devote^{[a] (B)}their gain to the Lord,
    their wealth to ^(C)the Lord of the whole earth.

¹⁴ For I will be ^(A)like a lion to ^(B)Ephraim,
    and like a young lion to the house of ^(C)Judah.
^(D)I, even I, will tear and go away;
    I will carry off, and no one shall rescue.

^15 (A)Behold, I make of you a threshing sledge,
    new, sharp, and having teeth;
you shall thresh ^(B)the mountains and crush them,
    and you shall make the hills like chaff;
^16 (C)you shall winnow them, and ^(D)the wind shall carry them away,
    and the tempest shall scatter them.
^(E)And you shall rejoice in the Lord;
    in the Holy One of Israel you shall glory.
