Ang Diyos ang Tagapagtanggol ng Kanyang Bayan
Isang Awit ng Pag-akyat upang Sumamba; katha ni David.
124 Ano kaya't kung si Yahweh ay di pumanig sa atin;
O Israel, ano kaya yaong iyong sasabihin?
2 “Kung ang Diyos na si Yahweh, sa amin ay di pumanig,
noong kami'y salakayin ng kaaway na malupit,
3 maaaring kami noon ay nilamon na nang buháy
sa silakbo ng damdamin at ng galit na sukdulan.
4 Maaaring kami noo'y natangay na niyong agos,
naanod sa karagata't tuluy-tuloy na nalunod;
5 sa lakas ng agos noo'y nalunod nga kaming lubos.
6 Tayo ay magpasalamat, si Yahweh ay papurihan,
pagkat tayo'y iniligtas sa malupit na kaaway.
7 Ang katulad nati'y ibong sa bitag ay nakatakas;
lubos tayong nakalaya nang ang bitag ay mawasak.
8 Tulong nating kailangan ay kay Yahweh nagmumula,
pagkat itong lupa't langit tanging siya ang lumikha.

1 If the Lord had not been on our side—
let Israel say(A)—
2 if the Lord had not been on our side
when people attacked us,
3 they would have swallowed us alive
when their anger flared against us;
4 the flood(B) would have engulfed us,
the torrent(C) would have swept over us,
5 the raging waters
would have swept us away.

124 “If it had not been the Lord who was on our (A)side,”
(B)Let Israel now say—
2 “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,
When men rose up against us,
3 Then they would have (C)swallowed us alive,
When their wrath was kindled against us;
4 Then the waters would have overwhelmed us,
The stream would have [a]gone over our soul;
5 Then the swollen waters
Would have [b]gone over our soul.”
6 Blessed be the Lord,
Who has not given us as prey to their teeth.
7 (D)Our soul has escaped (E)as a bird from the snare of the [c]fowlers;
The snare is broken, and we have escaped.
8 (F)Our help is in the name of the Lord,
(G)Who made heaven and earth.
