Matthew 8:8-27
New King James Version
8 The centurion answered and said, “Lord, (A)I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only (B)speak a word, and my servant will be healed. 9 For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
10 When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel! 11 And I say to you that (C)many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. 12 But (D)the sons of the kingdom (E)will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” 13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour.
Peter’s Mother-in-Law Healed(F)
14 (G)Now when Jesus had come into Peter’s house, He saw (H)his wife’s mother lying sick with a fever. 15 So He touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she arose and served [a]them.
Many Healed in the Evening(I)
16 (J)When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, 17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying:
(K)“He Himself took our infirmities
And bore our sicknesses.”
The Cost of Discipleship(L)
18 And when Jesus saw great multitudes about Him, He gave a command to depart to the other side. 19 (M)Then a certain scribe came and said to Him, “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.”
20 And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”
21 (N)Then another of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, (O)let me first go and bury my father.”
22 But Jesus said to him, “Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”
Wind and Wave Obey Jesus(P)
23 Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him. 24 (Q)And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep. 25 Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!”
26 But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then (R)He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. 27 So the men marveled, saying, [b]“Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”

Daniel 8:6-27
New King James Version
6 Then he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing beside the river, and ran at him with furious power. 7 And I saw him confronting the ram; he was moved with rage against him, [a]attacked the ram, and broke his two horns. There was no power in the ram to withstand him, but he cast him down to the ground and trampled him; and there was no one that could deliver the ram from his hand.
8 Therefore the male goat grew very great; but when he became strong, the large horn was broken, and in place of it (A)four notable ones came up toward the four winds of heaven. 9 (B)And out of one of them came a little horn which grew exceedingly great toward the south, (C)toward the east, and toward the (D)Glorious Land. 10 (E)And it grew up to (F)the host of heaven; and (G)it cast down some of the host and some of the stars to the ground, and trampled them. 11 (H)He even exalted himself as high as (I)the Prince of the host; (J)and by him (K)the daily sacrifices were taken away, and the place of [b]His sanctuary was cast down. 12 Because of transgression, (L)an army was given over to the horn to oppose the daily sacrifices; and he cast (M)truth down to the ground. He (N)did all this and prospered.
13 Then I heard (O)a holy one speaking; and another holy one said to that certain one who was speaking, “How long will the vision be, concerning the daily sacrifices and the transgression [c]of desolation, the giving of both the sanctuary and the host to be trampled underfoot?”
14 And he said to me, “For two thousand three hundred [d]days; then the sanctuary shall be cleansed.”
Gabriel Interprets the Vision
15 Then it happened, when I, Daniel, had seen the vision and (P)was seeking the meaning, that suddenly there stood before me (Q)one having the appearance of a man. 16 And I heard a man’s voice (R)between the banks of the Ulai, who called, and said, (S)“Gabriel, make this man understand the vision.” 17 So he came near where I stood, and when he came I was afraid and (T)fell on my face; but he said to me, “Understand, son of man, that the vision refers to the time of the end.”
18 (U)Now, as he was speaking with me, I was in a deep sleep with my face to the ground; (V)but he touched me, and stood me upright. 19 And he said, “Look, I am making known to you what shall happen in the latter time of the indignation; (W)for at the appointed time the end shall be. 20 The ram which you saw, having the two horns—they are the kings of Media and Persia. 21 And the [e]male goat is the [f]kingdom of Greece. The large horn that is between its eyes (X)is the first king. 22 (Y)As for the broken horn and the four that stood up in its place, four kingdoms shall arise out of that nation, but not with its power.
23 “And in the latter time of their kingdom,
When the transgressors have reached their fullness,
A king shall arise,
(Z)Having fierce [g]features,
Who understands sinister schemes.
24 His power shall be mighty, (AA)but not by his own power;
He shall destroy [h]fearfully,
(AB)And shall prosper and thrive;
(AC)He shall destroy the mighty, and also the holy people.
25 “Through(AD) his cunning
He shall cause deceit to prosper under his [i]rule;
(AE)And he shall exalt himself in his heart.
He shall destroy many in their prosperity.
(AF)He shall even rise against the Prince of princes;
But he shall be (AG)broken without human [j]means.
26 “And the vision of the evenings and mornings
Which was told is true;
(AH)Therefore seal up the vision,
For it refers to many days in the future.”
27 (AI)And I, Daniel, fainted and was sick for days; afterward I arose and went about the king’s business. I was [k]astonished by the vision, but no one understood it.
