Matthew 6:13-24
New King James Version
13 (A)And do not lead us into temptation,
But (B)deliver us from the evil one.
[a]For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
14 (C)“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But (D)if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Fasting to Be Seen Only by God
16 “Moreover, (E)when you fast, do not be like the [b]hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 17 But you, when you fast, (F)anoint your head and wash your face, 18 so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you [c]openly.
Lay Up Treasures in Heaven(G)
19 (H)“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 (I)but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
The Lamp of the Body(J)
22 (K)“The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is [d]good, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eye is [e]bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
You Cannot Serve God and Riches
24 (L)“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. (M)You cannot serve God and [f]mammon.
