⁸ “Blessed are ^(A)the pure in heart, for ^(B)they shall see God.

¹⁵ But Peter said to him, ^(A)“Explain the parable to us.” ¹⁶ And he said, ^(B)“Are you also still without understanding? ¹⁷ Do you not see that ^(C)whatever goes into the mouth passes into the stomach and is expelled?^{[a] 18} But ^(D)what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. ¹⁹ For out of the heart come ^(E)evil thoughts, ^(F)murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, ^(G)slander. ^20 (H)These are what defile a person. But ^(I)to eat with unwashed hands does not defile anyone.”

²⁴ God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

7 Since we have these promises, beloved, ^(A)let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body^[a] and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.

⁵ The aim of our charge is love ^(A)that issues from a pure heart and ^(B)a good conscience and ^(C)a sincere faith.

⁸ Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
