⁹ and do not assume that you can say to yourselves, ‘^(A)We have Abraham as our father’; for I tell you that God is able, from these stones, to raise up children for Abraham.

⁸ Therefore produce fruits that are consistent with repentance, and ^(A)do not start saying ^[a]to yourselves, ‘^(B)We have Abraham as our father,’ for I say to you that from these stones God is able to raise up children for Abraham.

³⁷ I know that you are ^(A)Abraham’s descendants; yet ^(B)you are seeking to kill Me, because My word ^[a]has no place in you.

³⁹ They answered and said to Him, “Abraham is ^(A)our father.” Jesus *said to them, “^(B)If you are Abraham’s children, do the deeds of Abraham.
