^19 [a](A)Go, therefore, and ^(B)make disciples of ^(C)all the nations, ^(D)baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, ²⁰ teaching them to ^[b]follow all that I commanded you; and behold, ^(E)I am with you ^[c]always, to ^(F)the end of the age.”

¹⁵ And He said to them, “^(A)Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

²¹ So Jesus said to them again, “^(A)Peace be to you; ^(B)just as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” ²² And when He had said this, He breathed on them and *said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. ^23 (C)If you forgive the sins of any, their sins ^[a]have been forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they have been retained.”

²⁴ But ^(D)Thomas, one of ^(E)the twelve, who was called ^[b](F)Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. ²⁵ So the other disciples were saying to him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see in ^(G)His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, ^(H)I will not believe.”

^26 [c]Eight days later His disciples were again inside, and Thomas was with them. Jesus *came, the doors having been ^[d]shut, and stood in their midst and said, “^(I)Peace be to you.” ²⁷ Then He *said to Thomas, “^(J)Place your finger here, and see My hands; and take your hand and put it into My side; and do not continue in disbelief, but be a believer.” ²⁸ Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” ²⁹ Jesus *said to him, “Because you have seen Me, have you now believed? ^(K)Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed.”

Why This Gospel Was Written

^30 (L)So then, many other ^[e](M)signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; ³¹ but these have been written ^(N)so that you may believe that Jesus is the ^[f]Christ, ^(O)the Son of God; and that by ^(P)believing you may have life in His name.

⁴² And He ^(A)ordered us to ^[a]preach to the people, and to ^(B)testify solemnly that this is the One who has been ^(C)appointed by God as ^(D)Judge of the living and the dead.
