⁶⁷ Then they spat in his face^(A) and beat him; others slapped him ⁶⁸ and said, “Prophesy to us, Messiah! Who was it that hit you?” ^(B)

⁶⁵ Then some began to spit on him, to blindfold him, and to beat him, saying, “Prophesy!” ^(A) The temple servants^(B) also took him and slapped him.

²² When he had said these things, one of the officials standing by slapped Jesus, saying, “Is this the way you answer the high priest?”

²³ “If I have spoken wrongly,” Jesus answered him, “give evidence^[a] about the wrong; but if rightly,^(A) why do you hit me?”
