^29 (A)When they had ^[a]twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” ³⁰ Then ^(B)they spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head. ³¹ And when they had mocked Him, they took the robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, ^(C)and led Him away to be crucified.

Jesus Predicts His Death and Resurrection^(A)

³¹ And ^(B)He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be ^(C)rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be ^(D)killed, and after three days rise again.

^31 (A)For He taught His disciples and said to them, “The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of men, and they will ^(B)kill Him. And after He is killed, He will ^(C)rise the third day.”

³³ “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death and deliver Him to the Gentiles;
