The First Lord’s Supper

²⁶ As they were eating,^(A) Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, gave it to the disciples,^(B) and said, “Take and eat it; this is my body.”^{(C) 27} Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks, he gave it to them and said, “Drink from it, all of you. ²⁸ For this is my blood of the covenant,^[a] which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.^{(D) 29} But I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”^(E)

The First Lord’s Supper

²² As^(A) they were eating, he took bread,^(B) blessed and broke^(C) it, gave it to them,^(D) and said, “Take it; this is my body.”^{(E) 23} Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks,^(F) he gave it to them, and they all drank from it. ²⁴ He said to them, “This is my blood of the covenant,^[a](G) which is poured out^(H) for many.^{(I) 25} Truly I tell you,^(J) I will no longer drink of the fruit of the vine^(K) until that day when I drink it new^[b](L) in the kingdom of God.”^(M)

²³ For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you:^(A) On the night when he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took bread, ²⁴ and when he had given thanks, broke it, and said,^[a] “This is my body, which is^[b] for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”^(B)

²⁵ In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, and said, “This cup is the new covenant^(C) in my blood.^(D) Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
