³⁵ And one of them, an expert in the law, asked a question to test him:^(A)

The Parable of the Good Samaritan

²⁵ Then^(A) an expert in the law^(B) stood up to test^(C) him, saying, “Teacher,^(D) what must I do to inherit eternal life?” ^(E)

⁴⁵ One of the experts in the law^(A) answered him, “Teacher, when you say these things you insult us too.”

⁴⁶ Then he said, “Woe also to you experts in the law! You load people with burdens^(B) that are hard to carry, and yet you yourselves don’t touch these burdens with one of your fingers.^(C)

⁵² “Woe to you experts in the law! You have taken away the key to knowledge.^(A) You didn’t go in yourselves, and you hindered^(B) those who were trying to go in.”

³ In response, Jesus asked the law experts^(A) and the Pharisees, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?”^(B)
