Cleansing the Temple

^12 (A)And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the ^(B)money changers and the seats of those who were selling ^(C)doves. ¹³ And He *said to them, “It is written, ‘^(D)My house shall be called a house of prayer’; but you are making it a ^(E)robbers’ ^[a]den.”

¹⁴ And the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and ^(F)He healed them. ¹⁵ But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that He had done, and the children who were shouting in the temple, “Hosanna to the ^(G)Son of David,” they became indignant ¹⁶ and said to Him, “Do You hear what these children are saying?” And Jesus *said to them, “Yes; have you never read, ‘^(H)Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babies You have prepared praise for Yourself’?” ¹⁷ And He left them and went out of the city to ^(I)Bethany, and spent the night there.

The Barren Fig Tree

^18 (J)Now in the morning, when He was returning to the city, He became hungry. ¹⁹ Seeing a lone ^(K)fig tree by the road, He came to it and found nothing on it except leaves only; and He *said to it, “No longer shall there ever be any fruit from you.” And at once the fig tree withered.

²⁰ Seeing this, the disciples were amazed and asked, “How did the fig tree wither all at once?”

Mary Anoints Jesus

12 ^(A)Jesus, therefore, six days before ^(B)the Passover, came to ^(C)Bethany where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. ² So they made Him a supper there, and ^(D)Martha was serving; but Lazarus was one of those reclining at the table with Him. ^3 (E)Mary then took a ^[a]pound of very costly ^(F)perfume of pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. ⁴ But ^(G)Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples, who was intending to ^[b]betray Him, *said, ⁵ “Why was this perfume not sold for ^[c]three hundred denarii and given to poor people?” ⁶ Now he said this, not because he was concerned about the poor, but because he was a thief, and as he ^(H)had the money box, he used to pilfer ^(I)what was put into it. ⁷ Therefore Jesus said, “Let her alone, so that she may keep ^[d]it for ^(J)the day of My burial. ^8 (K)For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have Me.”

⁹ The ^(L)large crowd of the Jews then learned that He was there; and they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, ^(M)whom He raised from the dead. ¹⁰ But the chief priests planned to put Lazarus to death also; ¹¹ because ^(N)on account of him ^(O)many of the Jews were going away and were believing in Jesus.

Jesus Enters Jerusalem

¹² On the next day ^(P)the large crowd who had come to ^(Q)the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, ¹³ took the branches of the palm trees and went out to meet Him, and began to shout, “^(R)Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord, even the ^(S)King of Israel.” ¹⁴ Jesus, finding a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written,
