Beware the Leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees

And when[a] the disciples arrived at the other side,[b] they had forgotten to take bread. And Jesus said to them, “Watch out for and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees!” So they were discussing this[c] among themselves, saying, “It is because we did not take bread.”

The Yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees

When they went across the lake, the disciples forgot to take bread. “Be careful,” Jesus said to them. “Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”(A)

They discussed this among themselves and said, “It is because we didn’t bring any bread.”
